I'd like to learn about Buddhism through video
either online or dvd.
Any recommendations? |
Hi, and welcome, psi.
If I were you, I'd start with one of the many biographies of Siddhartha Gautama. I think that would be helpful in setting the context for the rest of the philosophy. There's a lot on Youtube about Buddhism, but sometimes it's kinda hard to wade through the woo. Here's a BBC documentary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZQ9OZ_JACA |
Hi psi, welcome to the group.
There is also in our members only section here, Element's video on The First Noble Truth, which I found very straight forward and informative. |
Welcome psi !
Its not a video, but we have a short audio recording "What is Buddhism" with accompanying text at the start of the topics in the Beginners forum. Click at the top of the page where it says "click to listen to talk on MP3 streamer" http://www.dhammasukha.org/Study/Tal...T-MAR03-TS.htm You can learn about Buddhist meditation in a series of videos at YouTube. This is the first one: |
I do enjoy listening to Lama Surya Das ... the American Lama, as they say.
Lots of pain in that second video, Element - lol .... only one point to raise any sense of disagreement for me, I think the speaker reported The First Noble Truth as life is dukkha, and to my understanding it may be better described as life has dukkha. |
