Vesak observance
Could some of you tell me/us appropriate ways to celebrate/observe Vesak tomorrow? Is there any thing special that should or could be done? Thanks
|
hi Seeker
my personal practise is to reflect on the Buddha's enlightenment, on his realisation; on him sitting under the Bodhi Tree by the Nerañjara River; and on the efforts he went through to find that realisation for our benefit kind regards Element http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/grin.gif |
Hi seeker62,
Of course Element's advice is good but you could also observe the 8 precepts as millions of Buddhists (Theravadins that is) will be doing tomorrow. We've got a Facebook club dedicated to uposatha observances if you're interested. Be well and Happy Vesak! Rakkhantu sabba devataa! |
Hi Seeker,
I will be lighting a candle in front of a Buddha statue on a simple shrine and I will repeat the Refuge x 3 and choose some chants from here: http://www.amaravati.org/abmnew/docu..._Book_2006.pdf I will also reflect upon the Buddha. with kind wishes, Aloka |
" I will be lighting a candle in front of a Buddha statue on a simple shrine and I will repeat the Refuge x 3 and choose some chants " .... this was what I did too, Aloka.
I did not attend any ceremony this year, in the past few years have attended with my daughter as she wanted to, this year she had other more pressing plans ( homework assignment ) so we stayed home and had a private ceremony. |
