Pride

Pride in one's self and one's achievement's is to be avoided as that would feed the ego and encourage the concept of the "I" but what about having pride in the achievement's others? For example your children getting good grades in class.

I would suggest that "pride" is not the heart of the issue, but rather the clinging to worldly matters.
For sure go for the grades, but when "Grades" become the reason for living then maybe something is out of kilter.
Some folk are naturally academic, some are not. Placing the emphasis in a way that creates an unhealthy stress is not conducive to a Spiritual Path. This clamouring worldly sucess only entrenches a view of the world that is partly responsible for the mess we are in

Pride is related to self. "My achievement", "My reputation," "My children" etc. This can often lead to comparison with others and feelings of superiority.

Its ok to feel genuinely happy when someone else's life is going well for them though!

Thanks Aloka yep I can see the difference between being happy for another's achievement and being proud of their achievement, being happy for someone is far nicer also.
With gratitude
