The Last Moment (before death) w/ Bhante Vimalaramsi

is he serious? he sounds like a very crazy tibetan. nothing like the excellent talk on the abidhama. what sutta did he get all this from?

on the question of life after death or not the most the buddha had to comment was the he was undeclared.

he didn't have anything to say about the hallucinatory cascade of images that bhante vimalaramsi describes.

Few things that stood out...

Speaking of talking with them (dying person) mind-to-mind by putting your hand on their forehead or heart.

Visions seen at moment of death...
fire = reborn in hell realm
animals etc. = reborn as one of those beings
past relatives = reborn as human being
(Somehow it seems like this, having these visions, would only happen if we were conditioned to have them... i.e. taught about these visions.)

Talking about in America not understanding the chanting... "unless they understand what the chanting actually is, it can be helpful or not".
