Default What makes you buy a car/vehicle?
As the title suggest, what is it that makes you buy a car? I don't mean as "I need to move around", we all do. I mean is it fuel economy, looks or something else?

I won't have a white car.

They all look like stormtroopers.

My car was bought by looks and performance all the way....the gas mileage is marginal at best (22 city 26 highway) 14 gallon tank....I have a sports gear I can put it in if I want to be "race" mode, but it is not super fast by any stretch....I want an upgrade!

Hehe, I never thought of that. I had a white car once and I hated it. It always looked dirty.

They all do. Perhaps it's something you have to tune into. I'm switched onto 'stormtrooper' now, I can't turn it off

Cost and appearance. It's gotta be cheap, fast and hot....just like it's owner.

My vehicle has to be a truck. 4X4 is a prerequisite where I live. It has to be functional. The one in my avatar is a used one I picked up in early October. It's got a few more bells and whistles than I'm used to, but, I didn't buy it because of them. I do like the looks if it, though.

What makes me buy a car is when the vehicle I have is just about to quit (or has quit).

I like driving. But it doesn't matter much to me what I'm driving. An old junker is fine with me, as long as it's running good. I just don't get much out of driving fancy cars. And that's a nice problem to have in this economy.

Not caring about how nice or new a vehicle is when looking to purchase a car can be a nice problem to have, especially in this economy. Some people shell out big money for a new vehicle. And a lot of those folks can't afford it.

I've never been a real stickler about keeping that I've owned in the past clean and spotless. However, I've always done my best to keep cars I've owned in good condition mechanically, and it's paid off. My last car was still doing it's job when I sold it. It had 173,000 miles on it. And during the 7 or 8 years that I owned it, I never had to add more oil to it.

There's a saying, if it ain't broke, no need for a fix/replacement, but old cars tend to be gas guzzlers

Need the SUV for the family mobile and than Dad needs his personal car. Usually a sporty something. But, we haven't gotten a new car in 6 years. We have 3 vehicles, and for some reason they are all silver/gray shade. It just worked out that way.
