2012 Monaco GP Thread

I couldn't see one started which is surprising, although talk is across other threads.

I have a confession to make, I thought it was this weekend and even planned to do nothing and enjoy the race. Gutted to find out I was a week early and next Sunday I am busy. http://www.motorsportforums.com/imag...lies/frown.gif

Maldonado is aiming for a Monaco win with the help of Hamilton running out of fuel in qualifying once again.. http://www.motorsportforums.com/imag...es/biggrin.gif

Well, on every circuit we have had a different order and now we get to a circuit, which is traditionally abnormal compared to others anyway. So who would wager a guess, what is going to happen?http://www.motorsportforums.com/imag...es/biggrin.gif My money is on Force India to take a shocking win.http://www.motorsportforums.com/imag...ies/tongue.gif They are bound to hit the sweetspot with these tyres any time soon and who knows, maybe the circuit suits them.http://www.motorsportforums.com/imag...ies/tongue.gif

Sad that again they've disabled DRS in one of the few corners that would've been made significantly more challenging to the drivers in practice and qualifying. Quite a joke.

As for the race, it could be anyone's. Seeing how the Pirelli tyres affect overtaking here will be interesting.

I'm expecting Kimi and Lewis to be at the lead of the pack. Both can put in a stunning qually lap when needed, and they both know that at Monaco you need it.

Same here. I am torn between taking a radio and listening to the race, or waiting until about 8pm on sunday and watching it then is if it were live.

I think its a Lewis or Kimi win here.

Also I predict it every year, but a first point for Caterham.

Lewis is a favorite to win it on paper, but I'd like to see Kimi winning the race - 6th different race, 6th different driver and team victorious!

Red Bull is likely to be a better package than McLaren again.

Red bull was better in every race so far and equal in Australia.

I would expect to see sudden changes of form in Monaco. We all know that it's massively different to any other circuit on the calendar, and drivers are supposed to make a big difference there, so I don't think that anyone could make any good predictions. But, in any case, no-one has been able to predict anything thus far, right? :P

Except that at least one driver for most teams is a cheat. http://www.motorsportforums.com/imag...es/biggrin.gif

With the tyre wear we are seeing this year, I expect we could see quite a few mistakes and therefore bumps there fore saftey cars.

Also, taking out the SC, if this tyre wear happens strategy is even more key here, as we know give it 10 laps of a que forming behind someone who's tyres are gone and that que could lose 20+ seconds in that time.

So we could see quite a few gaps opening up and if there is no SC, we may see quite a chaotic race, with the top runners lapping most of the field.

Who knows, but these are a few things I think could happen in the race.

May have been posted before, but this is quite interesting.

I looked up a few races and in say 2001 compared to 2011, the 2001 grid could get ahead of the 2011 grid, however even taking the changed layout in Monaco 2011 in 3-4 seconds faster.Monaco F1 GP Speed Evolution >>> MotorSports Etc.

The tunnel is noisy, blind and dark. Considering that the request came last year from the Driver's Association and was agreed to by Charlie Whiting and from what I understand a similar case has been put forward this year, I wonder why you think it's a joke. If you're inches above the ground in an environment where you can probably see less than you would elsewhere, it seems sensible enough to me.

Drivers are paid to do a job. The DRS is an exercise in fakery anyway, why are paid professionals' opinions a "joke" in your opinion?
