Confronting A Rip-Off Auto Dealership

I know of a lady who went to an auto dealership which doesn't have a good reputation in our area. They made a number of repairs that they claimed totaled over three thousand dollars-and after all that, her car still wouldn't even start!

She went to the dealership to complain. However, she decided not to actually confront anybody because she said the manager who talked to her was "so nice."

Of course he was nice, they're rip-off artists! They're not going to be rude in this situation!

The real reason she elected not to stand up for herself was because she was too afraid too-not because he was nice.

There's a sucker born every minute.

Too many women will back down when it comes to car repairs b/c they don't feel knowledgable enough about it to protest. I had no problem walking my happy ass out of the place I took my car for an oil change after they threatened to note I was 2K over on my oil change (Owner's Manual recommends every 5K miles and that's exactly what I did, for the record) when I refused to let them do an engine cleaning on my Toyota w/ 15K miles on it.

It's intimidating for women to stand up to auto dealerships. But many men are afraid to do so as well.

a couple of months ago my car had a full service and M.O.T.,its 6 years old now and all that needed doing was a new hand brake cable.....now i take my car to someone i heard about through word of mouth, the peugeot dealers are rip off merchants, they charge more than anyone else and invent work that needs doing.

i paid for the brake cable and he fitted it for free as part of a loyal customer thing

i wont even get new tyres at national either, they tried to scare me into getting me to pay for new brake pads..the ones on the car had only been on for 2 months

Did they do anything for her?

It should be noted that while there are plenty of rip-off car dealerships and mechanics out there, their's also a lot of honest salespersons and mechanics too.

This is why it's awesome being related to a mechanic! He just comes over and does all my stuff for me http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif
My dad has begged me to marry a mechanic, he can't stand dealing with my and my car issues lol
Alas, I'm marrying an economist

The females should tell them they have a really angry or bad boyfriend or husband at home
that way the guys have the fear of when she gets home he finds out that she got ripped that they would
be dealing with a hothead the next day

My boyfriend deals with everything to do with our car. I don't mind standing up for myself if I know there's a problem, but I don't know a damn thing about cars, a mechanic could tell me any old bollocks and I wouldn't have the first clue whether it was accurate.

I can just about assert that a flux capacitor isn't a standard component http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/ninja.gif

Ditto, I'm glad Joe knows a lot about cars, my dad did too. My first husband, he was clueless. But then I didn't marry either man for their mechanical ability, it is a nice bonus!

.... that also crossed my mind. Usually when people think they have been ripped off, it is most likely an honest mistake and the sign of a good business is when they admit to it and do something to correct it.

I used to count on my older brother for stuff like that. Seeing as he longer wishes to speak to me, I need to find someone else to count on.
