Tilke first sent a representative of his company to Austin around two years ago, and has made personal many visits since. He is currently looking for office space in the city in which to base the project.

Hellmund is adamant that Austin is an ideal location.

Well I like to think I get F1 and I'm an American! Maybe I'm the only one?
I've been watching F1 a hell of a lot longer than you have youngster.
At any rate let's just wait and see Mr. freakin' know it all!

No need to wait and see, it'll all end up going tits up - always does

America and F1 are like oil and water - the two just don't mix

banditorfv 01-24-2011 11:53 PM

So you are an expert on The USA. Have you spent a lot of time in the States?
You're just talking out of your ass.
I remember when they said (European) Football would never catch on over here.
Now more young Anericans play it than any other sport.

If only somebody had told Phil Hill, hey.

Essefsbyday 01-25-2011 12:07 AM

Phil Hill !!

wtf??

The same one that won a championship in the very unamerican Ferrari in 1961 only because his team mate died, that Phil Hill you mean ffs

Nahh I'm neither fat or stupid so can't have spent time in America; I don't even own a gun.

Long Beach, Detroit, Indy, Dallas, Watkins Glen - all failed American F1 circuits - all have gone tits up

Like most things they are rubbish at they just don't get

You mean the one born in Italy

You're missing the only decent Yank - Dan Gurney

Hardly something to brag about is it, the richest nation, so in love with cars have produced 1 decent driver, Scotland or Finland produces more FFS

You can't force the masses to be enthusiastic about something they're just not interested in. A country like the US has more popular home grown forms of motorsport and the fact they aren't interested in F1 on the whole doesn't bother me in the slightest. The Americans who post here are in the minority and its great they can appreciate whats further afield.

To keep the thread on topic though, Lewis Hamilton is still the coolest driver on the current grid with Jenson a close second.. lol

Hence why F1 in America never works, as I said in the first place.

That conclusion was reached many years ago.

I wouldn't label people who have a difference of opinion as trolls as they are perfectly entitled to share their views IMO.

There is a chance you and I are completely wrong in our observations, and I'm open to all ideas, especially when some of the posters are American's themselves.

Essefsbyday 01-25-2011 06:56 PM

Why? When history tells us time and time again that Yanks don't do F1; circuits, drivers, teams - all fail

I assumed that was the way of this forum, if in doubt call t'other person a troll
