How long will Giancarlo last in his current role? Poor results and not much testing to do this season are not much justification for keeping him IMO. I do like the chap but is his time numbered in F1, and will it be him or Piquet to be the first to be dropped??? Discuss ![]() |

I don't think it would be bad move for Force India to have two young drivers in it's team and repalcing an old Italian with a young one is quite interesting in itself. Put surely Giancarlo helps devlop the car more than Liuzzi could and their would be no finacial benefit becausce he'd need paying off anyway.

How did you determine that? Do amuse me and tell. 1996, Minardi: low-midfield/back of the grid car, got him the Jordan drive 1997, Jordan: decent midfield car, got some podiums and a fastest lap in Spain 1998, 99, 2000, Benetton: got quite a few top 5 finishes and podiums with midfield cars. 2001, Benetton: got on the podium in Spa with a terrible car 2002, Jordan: decent season with them in a midfield car 2003, Jordan: wins in brazil and punches above weight in poor car 2004, Sauber: nine points finishes in solid car 2008, Force India: good season in the worst car on the grid, nearly scores in Spain |

Well, I've got a feeling that Fisi hasn't really much motivation any more now. Once he of course had, because he hadn't had a top drive yet. Last year Fisichella seemed rejuvenated too, he was in a new team and was motivated to try to move forward with them. But while Force India has stagnated at the back of the grid and Fisi's career is close to an ending, it has seemed Fisi's driving is becoming a bit more dispirited - mistakes in both of the opening races in 09.
I still remember the days, when Fisi and also Ralf were touted as the next World Champions, and on those days I also thought they were at the top of the field talent-wise, but later it quite hasn't worked out that way and the ending of their careers has turned out to be a bit sad... As for Liuzzi, he isn't really that young any more as someone suggested (almost 30), but I have nothing against seeing him in F1 again. He isn't obviously a champion in the making, but decent enough to race in F1. |

I am not sure how spinning out shows you are not motivated, I would think it is more that you are still really pushing hard, too hard even. But generally of course you can be right - in Fisi's case a spin can't mean one clear automatical conclusion. But what concerns me more is that Fisi doesn't seem to have that advantage over Sutil he had last year, which creates doubts. Already in Australia Sutil finished ahead (even passed Fisi on track IIRC). |

Well, spinning can occur as a result of pushing too hard or... lack of concentration. A good example for the latter one was M. Schumacher in USA in 2000, where he was clearly leading, win was in the bag and suddenly he spun in the end. |

In general though, and this relates more to the original topic - I don't know why Force India feel the need to change, if that is what they want to do. It' only two races in, and it's not as if their drivers are noticeably underperforming.
Liuzzi would be an upgrade over Sutil but there's no need to shake it up this early on. |
