I been so in the mood for SATB lately. So many good albums and awesome b-sides. Such a big influence on the music scene.

My favorite albums include The Scream, Kaleidoscope, and Tinderbox. Favorite songs include "Lands End", "Cannons", "Cascade", "Spellbound"... the list could go on and on.

Let's talk Siouxsie!

I have all the remasters they did from The Scream to Tinderbox and love them lots. My favourite overall is probably Juju or Tinderbox.

Annoyed though that they're not continuing the remasters series for the post-Tinderbox albums. I'm a completist!

That is a solid performance, but that is not the performance on The Thorn EP. While the string arrangement is the same, all Thorn tracks were recorded in-studio. This may have been a promo performance in support of The Thorn EP.

I'm pretty obsessed with The Banshees' Downside Up box set. It includes a disc solely dedicated to a completely remastered Thorn EP, which is one of my favorite in-studio Banshees recordings of all time.

And Steve Severin was so damn hot!

Oh yeah, this was from the Oxford Road Show I think in '82, but I meant the arrangement was the same as what went on The Thorn EP as opposed to The Scream version - should have made it clearer

And yes Downside Up is great! I actually got that before most of all the main studio albums. I had Juju, and then I found Downside Up for a bargain price on eBay so snapped it up.

Oh, ha, silly me!

Downside Up is fascinating to me because it demonstrates such a completely unique side to the band. I feel like with the Banshees' A-Sides, they tried pretty hard to maintain this dark, serious front, but their b-sides show their sense of humor, experimental side, and boundless creativity in a much more jubilant way. they tackle many different genres, often regionally (Congo Conga, El Dia De Los Muertos, Follow The Sun), all without fail.

I feel like I still really only have a surface knowledge of Siouxsie--really just the well-known songs--but what I know, I LOVE and I keep intending to listen to the albums properly.

"Cities in Dust" is my JAM. I actually always wished that Plugged-era Tori would cover it.

My introductory album was Juju and after a couple of listens I was hooked. I think Tinderbox though would also make a great introduction, especially the 2009 remaster with the gorgeous bonus track "Starcrossed" on it. A Tori Plugged era "Cities In Dust" would be amazing. Tori chose it as a song to play when she was a guest on a radio show in '09, can't remember when/where, but I remember thinking 'good choice.' Didn't know she was a Banshees fan but was glad to find she was.

And Bruce, totally agree about Downside Up. Haven't listened to it in a while, must do that.

I completely agree with you. Dreamhouse is my favorite S&TB record also. It's flawless from beginning to end.

A Kiss in the Dreamhouse has some of my all-time favourites but also some that I really have to be in the mood for. I will say though that when the strings come in on "Obsession," omg it's just heavenly. The album sounds to me a bit like the logical follow-up to Kaleidoscope in the sense that it's pretty experimental and diverse. Juju has a similarly dark and oppressive feel to their earliest records but I think it's melodically superior and by that point they were just all better as musicians and writers, and Siouxsie had really improved as a singer.

I think Kiss in the Dreamhouse and Juju are the best for an album experience - their other records have obvious singles that sit apart from the rest of the songs, in both style and lyrical themes. Candyman, Peek-a-Boo, Happy House and maybe Dazzle come to mind. None of which are bad, of course, but I love putting on Dreamhouse or Juju and just taking a long, dark journey.
