A wind up?

Twitter and Facebook have exploded this morning with what could very well be a leak about a new film project being directed by Kate.

According to tweets from several actors involved in a project filming in London, a film to accompany a new version of Running up that Hill is under way, including an appearance by the actor Jude Law. We have no official details of this exciting news, and we should remember that Kate herself may not be too happy that this has leaked. One interesting theory flying around the social networks is that this may have something to do with the upcoming London Olympics…we await further updates. SIMULTANEOUS REACTIONS

12 August 2012: Running Up That Hill (2012 Remix), featuring newly-recorded vocals, was indeed featured during the Olympics closing ceremony. Kate did not appear on stage or in video though multiple rumors from multiple sources hinted that she may perform. The song was played over a video montage of the Olympic games while a pyramid was constructed on stage.

The new version of Running Up That Hill has now been released as a single and can be purchased through various outlets including iTunes. For more info, please see this news item on Kate's website. Kate's brief statement:

16 July 2012: According to Pause & Play, Kate may be preparing a new greatest hits collection for release in November. From their upcoming releases list:

It's the spectre of even the possibility her jazzlite-ing RUTH that's made me realise how much I've gone off DC since 50WTFs came out.

I couldn't imagine Kate doing something for the Olympics. It seems like something she wouldn't have much interest in. But any Kate news is welcome news. It's so nice that she is more active now. Before Aerial came out I never thought I'd see that from her.

Yeah I feel pretty stupid now. Well if this is true and that picture is indeed from the shoot, I'll just be glad she's doing something. Looks like it could be cool, and I'm sure there would be a good reason for her to be involved (artistically speaking).

The rumor is she may be releasing another album with new and old songs, similar to The Whole Story? I guess her studio is getting an overhaul so maybe they'll finally remaster the old albums and start putting out deluxe editions. *fingers crossed*
