My feeling on this news is one of extreme caution and a nagging sense that it's too soon. Which I haven't had until now.

Apparently someone tweeted yesterday that they were heading to Ireland to do Tori's make-up for an album cover shoot, and that she'd be getting interviewed.

Don't know how legit it is.

Hmmm. Well, if she's just going for a photoshoot, it means the album - or whatever she's doing - probably won't be released for a few months, especially if she is going to be touring in the fall/winter. That's just my guess. Maybe late summer?

I'm sure more news will dribble out soon.

For the last few albums the standard has been a press release about two and a half months before the album release (although TBK press release was an unusually previous four months before the album came out) but inevitably little things emerge here and there before said press release. I hope it's got Oranges And See It Crying on it.

I'm not wanting to believe that she would record her own versions of the Light Princess songs with the orchestra and release it herself. And I don't want to believe that she'd release THAT before it was performed in theater. So what I want to believe is that it has nothing to do with the Light Princess. That it will be all new original material with the Metropole Orchestra - maybe more of a classical concept, since she said it would not be a pop structure.

Agreed. And I'm still quite excited by the prospect of a new Tori release, Beekeeper Mark II or otherwise.

hmmm...i would not at all be excited about an instrumental album. an instrumental track or two, beautiful. a whole album? no thanks.

oh yay, a high-concept Tori Amos album? What will she think of next.

Anyway, since Tori's compass about what is pop and what isn't seems pretty skewed, I have no idea what any of this means.

I know people wish she'd take a bit longer, but you can't deny Tori's consistency releasing albums.

I really hoped she'd take longer this time. I really did. There's no one forcing her to churn them out so fast. As in 2009, I hope I am wrong. I truly do.

Me too. I thought she might do a new record after The Light Princess is up and running; it just feels like a "let's squeeze one out, do a tour and get that out the way before the musical" kind of thing but who knows, this could have been quite a thought-out project given her general absence in 2010. But still, with working on this and the musical I worry it is too much too soon.

But - usually we hear something from Matt Chamberlain don't we? I haven't heard that he's involved in this project so maybe it is something quite different. Or was he involved and I just missed it/forgot?

Venus was also very soon at the time...
