Apolyton was founded on this day in 1998.

We're still waiting for our apology.

Way to be on top of things, AAHZ. http://www.discussworldissues.com/im...ons/icon14.gif

http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...secretanim.gif They're pulling the plug Tuesday or Wednesday. This "temporary" story is just a cover. You heard it here first.

Kind of ignorant for such a long time king of poly.

timgreyuvcz 07-27-2010 01:18 AM

founded, even though it didn't exist before... I think the word "founded" should be replaced with the word "discovered"

AAHZ is fine once you learn to just skip over his posts. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif

SaamanthaSterlyng 07-27-2010 07:49 AM

Is there anyone here now who has been on poly the entire 12 years?

Zptmsemk 07-27-2010 08:18 AM

Boris:

There's a bunch of the Dec. 1969 join date guys but who knows when they actually joined. Turns out that anyone who joined before March 1999 ended up as Dec. 1969. So someone like me or Plomp just barely missed it.

A belated Happy Birthday, Apolyton Civilization Site. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/cool.gif

[DanQ] cared moar for his own radio show and personal popularity, using this site as a stage, instead of the site itself and community.
I am disappointed to learn that you still feel that way, AAHZ. If what you say were true, I would have shut the site down rather than work to ensure a transition of ownership so that did not happen; I also publicly acknowledged that it was time for me to step aside when that transition was announced in addition to doing so. That I am even able to take this aside with you here is a further acknowledgment that I left ACS in capable hands. That is what was, and is, important for this site and community.

Robert, Jeroen and company: I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in store for Apolyton CS as, I have seen and heard some refer to it, "Poly 2.0". (Can I quibble with the version number? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif)

Hmmmm. The definition of "founded" includes "to set up or establish on a firm basis or for enduring existence". If it had been "discovered", then would it not in fact have existed before? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/cute.gif

Isn't the English language colourful? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif

Without Apolyton I would not have learned about civ3, civ4 and civ5. That would have saved me tens of thousands of hours.

There's the "enduring existence" part I mention above in practice. http://www.discussworldissues.com/im...ons/icon14.gif

http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/crook.gif 1998, but signed on in November. The Julyers are mostly Markos, DanQ, Ming and rah.

BTW, there's been some changes (to say the least! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif) since I last looked at my profile. How do I make the things under "Additional information" publicly available? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/redface.gif It used to be visible under our handles in every post... You know, "Interests" would be seen under "Posts: 3041" etc.

Thanks for any input!

Carolus
