Any good science fiction book store will carry Locus. I used to subscribe to it, but now, I will buy a copy if I see it at a SF convention.

Bummer... I would have expected her to carry it. The local SF convention for Columbus also just passed. It was on Memorial Day Weekend at that Hyatt in Columbus. Hmmmm...
Local Bay Area Polytubbies won't really have much more luck finding it than anybody else, since Lucus is distributed nationally. What you really meed is to find somebody who is a hard core SF Fan. I'll ask around to my friends here and see if anybody has a copy... Many of them are hard core SF fans. Heck, I met my wife at an SF convention. I'll see what I can come up with. You also might want to contact Locus directly. I'm sure they would be more than willing to sell you a single issue. Locus Magazine Mailing address Locus Publications, P.O. They are a great bunch of people and I'm sure they will help you get what you need... at least at a reasonable price ![]() |

Detroit Fire Department arson investigator Anya Kalinczyk suspects her latest serial arsonist is up to something magical with his fires. She's got lots of experience with the supernatural; she's a Lantern, a sort of medium who attracts ghosts like moths to a light, and then swallows them to destroy them. She occasionally helps out a group of ghost hunters, and has a salamander familiar named Sparky, a fire spirit who likes messing with electricity. So when she finds strange marks at the fire scenes, she's able to put the pieces together: someone is trying to summon an ancient being, one that will destroy most of the city. This very promising first novel is a solid fantasy mystery with a strong protagonist and an effective contemporary setting in a decaying Detroit.
The absolutely lovely woman who answers Locus' phone faxed me the review. Thanks, Ming! |

Locus Magazine (www.locusmag.com), a literary magazine that focuses on science fiction and fantasy, just published its June issue, which contains a review of Galnemer's book. *(this is a joke, don't go all KH on me) ![]() |
