Default Good Web Hosting Service?
I need advice, would anyone happen to know a good reliable web hosting service? Preferably a hosting service with ffmpeg installed and unlimited bandwidth/cpu/memory usage? I cant afford a dedicated server unfortunately so shared hosting is the route i need to take.. i just wonder if there are any reasonable services out there with zero bandwidth/cpu usage caps.

What do you want to host? Generally shared hosting won't allow you to put on high traffic / bandwidth sites. The host will politely ask you to upgrade to dedicate or **** off elsewhere.

You won't find that in a good reliable shared hosting service. I've seen shared hosting that do offer it, but once you start actually doing what you want they will cut you off and tell you to upgrade to dedicated hosting.

Exactly what i was worried about. Even if they claim unlimited bandwidth ect.. from my findings they will still shut you down over cpu usage. Theirs got to be a work around, i suppose if worse comes to worse i could simply transfer to another hosting service but thats a pain in the ass.

Mate, if you want to do a youtube clone you're going to need a six figure budget. There is no way to sugar coat that.

Encoding flash video is very processor intensive. We managed about 12 consecutive streams on a 4 x Xeon L5520 2.16GHZ machine with 32GB RAM. We had to run ffmpeg at nice + 19 on all those processes to allow web browsing as well. Really you need an encoding server as well as a web server.
