Default Need help with Excel
I want to add minutes and seconds.

For example

02:50
00:30

= 3 minutes and 20 seconds, I want to to displayed like this: 03:20

I formated the respective fields to mm:ss, and added them with =C7+C8 etc.

But I end up with 00:00 instead of the correct time. What did I do wrong?

I'm getting similar functionality. Try entering the time as 00:02:50 rather than just 02:50. That's the only way i seem to be able to fix this.

this is correct, when you format the cell to mm:ss it will only display what you have input into that cell

so for 2mins 50secs it will display 02:50 instead of 0hours 2mins 50secs which is 00:02:50

however

you still must input into the cell as 00:02:50, simply putting 02:50 into the cell Excel will think that is 2hrs and 50mins by default. whether or not you can change this behaviour I don't know.

It worked, thank you guys! But thats really inconvenient! The whole excel sheet will be filled with minutes and seconds only, thats alot of unnessesary key to press.

You can do an Edit -> Replace and then fix then that way. Find **:** and then choose a time format as the replace format and that should fix it for you.
