Lifetime driving ban and a huge fine would be appropiate.

Red lights are one area where cameras are 100% justified.

He must've been playing crash mode on burnout earlier that day.

In Australia a women killed two people in the exact same intersection on completely different days. Yet all she got was an 18 month suspension on her license and no jail time.

The judge says she poses no threat to the community. Her excuse being she didn't see the guy riding the motorbike. Clearly she wasn't paying attention and speeding at the same time.

But what can you do? Wonder what the punishment of this accident was. Killing cars is probably worse then killing humans.

IMO, stupid JUDGES are as much a problem as the criminals! She should have had 2 counts of vehicular manslaughter with the maximum penalty applied for the second!

It's a horrible thing that happened, but accidents happen, and if it was an accident then I don't see a problem with the judges ruling. Now, if she was running from cops, or showing blatant disregard for human life, then that's a different story. Making two mistakes isn't the same thing.

She didn't look properly, that's careless driving and that's a traffic offence.
She killed some innocent person, that's manslaughter.
That she did it twice is simply un-excusable.

No, it can happen to anyone. And usually when it happens to someone, that person has to live with it for the rest of his/her life, and 99% of the people out there dont want to kill other people.

I agree.

You're missing the point, she SCREWED UP and has to face the consequences, legal as well as any personal remorse she may, or may not, feel.
Saying it 'could happen to anyone' isn't true - paying attention and looking properly would have avoided this. It wasn't an 'accident' as it was an easily avoided fatality.
Besides, you're also overlooking the affect her negligence will have on the rest of the lives of the victims family and friends!

A driving licence ISN'T a right, it's a privilege, and with that privilege comes responsability.

I stand by what I said, no matter how careful you drive, bad accidents can always happen, to anyone.

No worries, mate, we'll agree to differ.
If you look into any "accident", in 99% or more of the cases, soeone screwed up, somewhere.
IMO, when driving, an "accident" can only occur because some one screwed up, somewhere! It may not always be foreseeable by the driver, in this case it should have been!

Just thought I'd say the intersection was an open one, meaning there is nothing to which can block your view. The only way this could have happened if she wasn't paying attention to her surroundings.

But I have to agree, people can get side tracked, it's happened to me once and I ran a red light and literally came inches from a truck. My reflexes kicked in before I even fully registered what had happened (thank friggin god).

But either way, it was completely my fault and I'm greatful nothing serious had happened.

One time is an accident, you'd learn to wake up to yourself and pay more attention. Twice can also be an accident, but at the exact same intersection? It may just be me, but if I ever killed someone, every time I'd pass the place it happened I'd pay quadruple the amount of attention (mainly from being scared it may happen again). For it to happen a second time, there's not much of an excuse.

A totally agree, MOST of the time its a stupid mistake that leads to an accident. But sometimes you just dont know what hit ya. A friend of mine was driving a u haul truck to his new apartment, and on a bridge the wind was so strong that he lost control of the vehicle and rammed another car. He was driving 70km/h... totally standard.

Bad things happen to good people sometimes.
