Day 17: A 590 mile drive from Indianapolis back to good old Germantown, MD ended our road trip at ~7400 miles. In Maryland we encountered the only traffic of the entire trip; I-70 was snarled to a halt by late night construction, ******* drivers, and insufficient time to merge as two lanes were reduced to one.

Why would anyone ever leave? We've got traffic, ******* drivers, and iridescent humidity.

I did the observation point trail in Zion NP last year. It's a little tough, but nothing too major. You basically hike from the bottom to the top.

*crosses fingers hoping they allow hotlinks *

gonna due the angels landing hike in Zion this October weather permitting. It's one of the most popular hikes in the western U.S. (perhaps the most popular along with halfdome)

Angels landing hike:

I generally don't like hikes with a lot of exposure (big drop offs) that you can see in the above pic. But I think the chains will make me feel more comfortable. I've scaled some pretty intense cliffs, but none of them had falls over 20 or so feet. You could survive it if you fell, unlike these

I was thinking something similar. That is a long ass trip, especially for lots and lots of driving.

What'd you do on the road? Did you have satellite radio? Long times on the road are always a *****. If you survived that, you are ready for marriage.

I never had anything fancy like satellite radio. I usually bring lots of cd's. But if I have someone in the car with me, I have to listen to music other people actually enjoy. Sometimes I surf the radio stations trying to fine that elusive radio station that is the be all end all of radio stations and plays nothing but good songs. But generally I only find hick or mexican radio stations.

Grr. Going to the Corn Palace was giving in to peer pressure. Everyone that heard we were going on a road trip told us we had to do it. We will not be fooled a second time.
Are you sure? Because, ya know, you might have missed something really cool the 1st time around.
