hey guys just an update .. .

i smoked 1 cig. a few days ago while drinking beer. so i cut down beer until i am completely done with this habit.

but i did not give up. and i am still doing good. 1 cigarette in the last 14 days [yes] and i will not let that happen again.

and as for the changes, 2 weeks after you quit its a lot easier to wake up. i don't have massive cravings in the mornings anymore no more feeling dizzy from too much oxygen either.

i am planning to get back into playing soccer ) while i am still not too old )

Reading this post and realizing the power of nicotine addiction. I kind of knew he was gonna sneak off a cig. But now it is my turn. 47 years old and smoking about 15 a day. I can't last more than 24 hours. I have to quit for obvious reasons. This post may push me to quit. My dad quit cold turkey over 20 years ago. It is my turn.

Heaven help me.

problem starts when ppl think they failed even when they smoked 1. i still consider i am doing good and its a mistake that i shouldn't have done. but i wont cry a river over that. best i can do is not to let that happen, realize what caused me to do it and not get into that situation.

i think anyone can quit, but its very hard for sure.

Well one is bad, but all you did was one. So that is still good since you stopped after one. No one expects you to just stop cold turkey, but you will get there 1 is okay for 14 days in my book though.

Me still 0 smokes since i stopped cold turkey, i can actually run with the dogs playing catch/throw and not cough up a lung now!![thumbup]

Good Day

Yeah one is not a big deal as long as you stay on mission. Sounds like you have the right perspective. Just keep on keeping on, that's all you can do.

Good luck, and congrats on what you have done so far. I'm sure it's not easy.

Try not to think about it, its all in the mind.

Also patches might not be the answer for you. You may be better using the gum or lozenges, or even the inhalator

i have the inhaler thing too but now that i've put the patch thing i don't think i can use that but who cares.

i think its this stupid physical habitual thing that bothers me .. i feel so ... kinda umm.. uncomfortable?

i feel like i am missing doing something ... i keep drinking tomato juice eating ice cream tons of other liquids (avoiding coffee for now it makes me want a cigarette even more).

That is addiction for you. The first few days are the hardest, but keep strong and fight through it - you will get there; otherwise you'll feel bad about giving up and smoking again.

One of the main things your body is missing, is doing something with your hands and mouth. Thats why chewing gum, sucking boiled sweets or the like can help your body overcome these urges.

Another thing to suggest (if you dont already), is to join a gym or do some excersize. Now that you've quit smoking, your metabolism has slowed down a bit and you will gain some extra weight to start off with.
Going to a gym and especially doing Cardio work will show you how your health is improving. I found that my addiction turned to the gym, and that isnt a bad thing if you can keep that under control!

I never really got angry when I gave up its been a couple of years now... although I still have the odd drunken fag

just think of all the mohoney your going to save.

remember you can have lapses but you must not allow these lapses become habit.

Just remember, it takes 15 days to get it completely out of your system. Find things that take up your time. Try a really addicting game or R/L thing.

Great you stopped smoking but now will be big as a side of a house from trying to curb your smoking craves.

Don't feel bad i'm in the same boat. Walked today with the dogs, bush-hogged the back field. At odd and end stuff, chips, candy, drank water. But i think i got it done, just have to gain a extra 10-20 pounds stopping the smoke crave............

Well good luck with it, hope you can stick it out. I though stopped cold turkey, no patches, inhaler, or anything.

Good Day
