Smelly Armpits

Shave your pits. Less hair equals less smell.

Fewer 'roids... http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/cute.gif

The odor is influenced by what you eat. So is the odor of your rectum output. The Indians have all kinds of remedies and thinking on this subject. Apparrently such odors represent a spiritual concern in Hinduism and to a lesser extent, Buddhism. Not up on the latest but a person I used to work with said a lot of this is on the web. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif

I am so amused by a physisist asking for advice about something so obvious. Did you not take introductory biology as part of your copious amounts of academic jackery? How about a shower? Facts are facts: armpits sweat due to bacteria that develops on them, and the best way to get rid of bacteria is by applying water to it because bacteria cannot live in water, cf. a SHOWER. The second way to get rid of the bacteria is to take antibiotics, though this will only work if the smell is coming from inside your body, which would mean you would have had to eat extremely potent garlic sandwiches for a prolonged period of time. I don't know about you, but where I work, I take showers during the day because I admire a clean body, even if it is my own. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/mad.gif

You have already stated the solution: reapply deodorant during the day. Can't be too much of a problem imo

You jest, but I noticed a significant uptick after I started lifting. I'm wondering if I shifted my hormone balance. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.gif

I've never been a very stinky person. Maybe I'm not manly enough to be stinky, I'm not sure.

There's this old guy at the gym, who is like huge. He has to take steroids or something to be that huge. That guys stinks up a storm. I hate it when he's working out next to me. yuck. Not sure what that guy eats or does to smell like that.

Is it normal to drop down in weights? Two weeks ago I was doing 3 sets of 70 lbs for dumbbell press, last two times I lifted (Monday and Thursday, might lift tonight) I could only get up 65 lbs...

my pits are ok
my feet are quite stinky

i somtimes use deodorant cream which stops the smell for several days but i think it works by blocking the sweat glands which i'm not sure is healthy, so i do it rarely

I usually do, but unless you want me to drive home to take a shower at noon I don't see how this is relevant to my problem. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.gif
Don't the departments you work in have showers? You poor bastard.

LesLattis 02-20-2009 01:37 AM

I have showers where I work, and I'm only a student http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif

dselectronics 02-20-2009 01:43 AM

My lab and the university both had showers.

My advice is to try directing the shower under your armpits now and again...I suspect this is where you may be going wrong http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif

who ever heard of showers at work? I've never seen them- except in the navy where I lived and worked in the same area. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif
We've got them in my office, one in the boss's private restroom and another one in the employee's. The boss uses his when he comes in to work from the gym, but I've never seen an employee using the shower.

There are actually quite a few office buildings that have showers. Not a majority by any stretch, but more than you might think. They're usually either in executive suites or fitness facilities.

Use anti-perspirant instead of deodorant. Apply cologne.

What an interesting thread.

TouccuraLar 02-20-2009 03:26 AM

I've waited all this time for KH to resurface and this is the topic??

FWIW: Many people (myself imcluded) experience an increas in body hair as we age. Fuller beard, more chest hair, etc. More hair >> more bacteria >> more odor.

Nemerov 02-20-2009 04:05 AM

Oh, uh, welcome back, KH. http://www.discussworldissues.com/im...ons/icon14.gif

Battwenue 02-20-2009 04:28 AM

If you want to kill the bacteria in your armpits consider using Hibiclens. Its the stuff surgeons wash with before sticking their hands inside you.
The only truly effective antiperspirant is Drysol. In the US it's only available via prescription, so you'll have to pay one of my brethren. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/toofunny.gifhttp://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/toofunny.gifhttp://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/toofunny.gif

I've noticed that through my twenties my armpits have gotten steadily stinkier.

I take a shower every morning, but by the time I go home I reek, unless I reapply deodorant through the day. Is there any other solution to my stinky armpits problem?

kthxbye
Stop taking your decongestant.
