It seems my days of eating as much as I want and not gaining a single kilo are over. It seems I'm putting on weight and very fast. I can't believe how fast it's happening. I've dramatically decreased the amount of junk food I eat and dramatically increased the amount of the fruits I eat. I've gone from going on 2 hours walks each day to 4 hours and more. I'm now doing a lot of jogging, especially up on the beach and golf course which is something I never did before and I've been using my dumbbells quite a lot to work on my upper body strength. And I've been doing quite a lot of swimming in the lake, usually against currents and carry heavy rocks to make it harder.
I've also been doing a lot of crunches, reverse crunches and side crunches to work on my upper and lower abs and obliques but it doesn't seem to matter how much exercise I do it looks like I'm still increasing in weight (fat wise). And I've been taking my vitamins and eating breakfast in the morning. What am I suppose to resort to in order to get rid of this fat[help]. I've never been so active in my life and it doesn't seem to be helping. Then again I've read that some exercising doesn't necessarily remove fat but still increases the muscle size and just pushes the fat outwards making you look fatter then you really are. I really hope that's what it is. EDIT: Will be buying myself a bike soon and start riding up on the cycle way. I promised myself when I was younger that I would never become fat and I tend to keep that promise. |

There is only ONE way to lose weight.
That is to consume less calories than you burn. There are many websites that can give you the calories in nearly any food item. Also, there are websites that can help you estimate how many calories you burn daily. As long as you eat fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight. ________ AMERICAN DAD! DICUSSION |

Another thing to keep in mind too is to make sure you eat a lot of small meals throughout the day. If you are "starving" yourself for the sake of losing weight, your body will go into survival mode, and start storing fat. A good thing to do is to write down everything you eat throughout the day, and take a look at it at the end of the week. You might surprise yourself to see some of the bad food that manages to sneak its way in.

Being skinny is overrated anyway. Do you really want to be one of those people over in the corner shivering all the time? [rofl] I don't eat to much fruits either. It's that I never really ate any fruits before so eating maybe 2 bananas and 2 oranges a day is a dramatic increase for me ![]() I'll take the advice and start eating smaller meals during the day instead of the usual huge meals at the end of the day. I think it's time that I start living healthy and active instead of believing I can get away with being lazy and eating junk food without consequence. |

Worst thing is to eat in the evening, stop eating ANYTHING after 18:00 (or after you get home from work should be the last meal). If you're hungry (and you WILL be), just drink some water or tea without sugar. You just need to eat the right food, the right amount and to burn enough. |

Cut down on your carbohydrate and raise your protein intake, make sure to cut down on the amount of saturated fat and alcohol that you consume, and aim for at least one 30mins period of hard grind/sweat a day.
Walking, Swimming, Rowing and Weight Training are all good for fat burning, and actually drinking a fair amount of caffeine (but not too much) helps too as it raises your metabolism levels slightly. But seeing as you seem to be doing enough excercise, it's probably your diet that it giving you problems. It might be worth checking to see if your adversely intolerent to a particular type of food, for example if I eat too much bread I put weight on, no over type of food seems to have this effect on me, until I went to the doctors and found out I had a yeast/gluten intolerence (not allerigic, but my body doesn't break it down properly). Might be something worth looking at. Some good 'fat burning' foods :- Berries Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, black and red currants all stimulate the main organs that are involved in detoxification, boosting metabolism and making the body more efficient at burning fat. Sesame seeds They prevent cholestoral absorption and their high levels of zinc and selenium are great antioxidant cleansers. As an added bonus, they also strengthen the heart as well as the immune and nervous systems Sardines Loaded with protein, which helps stabilize blood sugar, eating sardines will also make you feel full and help to stimulate your metabolism. Green tea This natural weight-loss stimulant might not be a food but green tea is still a great slimming solution. Not to mention that it's rich in antioxidants, promotes heart health, aids digestion and regulates blood sugar and body temperature. Drinking it will also raise your metabolic rate and speed up fat oxidation, so helping you lose weight. Olives and Olive Oil Certain fats are good for you and your body needs them. And olive oil is one of those "good fats". In fact it's so good that it actually helps you burn fat and keeps your cholesterol down. However, it should be used in moderation because an excessive amount will have the opposite effect. Eggs The white of an egg is very high in protein and essential in helping your body break down and burn fat. Eggs will also help you feel full for longer and decrease your appetite. Pineapple Eating fruit in the morning helps you digest your food more efficiently during the day, and pineapple contains special digestive enzymes that work double time to help you digest food quickly. Pine nuts They're lower in total fat than most other nuts and high in protein, meaning they can increase the body's ability to burn fat as well as helping maintain low cholesterol. Pine nuts are a perfect replacement for those trying to avoid animal proteins. Mushrooms Mushrooms have got rather a lot going for them. This slow-release energy food thins the blood, improves circulation and boosts fat-burning abilities. Luckily they're a diverse food and come in a variety of flavours so are very versatile. Celery Use celery to bulk our your meals. Plus, it is so low in calories that you actually burn up more munching your way through it than you gain when you've digested it. Lettuce Highly diuretic, lettuce is an excellent choice for those suffering from water retention and bloating. Because it's rich in magnesium and iron, it also actually helps speed up the metabolism and has fat-dissolving properties too. Cucumber Made up of 96 per cent water, cucumbers are extremely cleansing and beneficial to dieters. They aid the digestive process and are also a mild laxative. Courgette High in fibre, courgettes encourage a healthy digestive system, lower cholestorol and generally detoxify the body. They also soothe the liver and help the body's metabolism to function efficiently. Seaweed Contains excellent levels of iodine, an essential mineral that assists thyroid function, keeping the body's metabolism working at optimum levels and helping burn off fat. Oats One of the most nutritious grains, oats are full of proteins and minerals and contain a soluble fibre that helps the digestive system work at its best, helping to burn fat cells. Tuna A great detoxifier and immunity booster, tuna is also a superb source of essential fatty acids, important for burning excess fat, balancing blood sugar levels and banishing hunger pangs. Spinach A natural laxative, spinach aids in liver function, getting rid of the toxins present in our bodies. The B vitamins found in spinach also fight off infection and boost energy levels to fight long term fatigue and stress. Apples A chemical found in apples called pectin slows down the body's capacity to absorb other foods - including fat. They also encourage water consumption from the food which helps in releasing fat deposits from the body. Chillies Chillies are first-rate fat-burners and some research has found they can increase your calorie burn by up to 8 per cent for as long as three hours after eating. This is because the capsaicin found in them is a supernutrient that speeds up your metabolism and helps you burn off more energy. Citrus fruits Lemons, limes and oranges all contain Vitamin C which dilutes the fat, making it less effective. They also help in releasing fat from the body. |
