Quantum of Solace
I went to the premiere on Friday... I think it's a good movie but Casino Royale was better. I rather like the new Bond style, which is more serious and gritty and with less tongue-in-cheek. There's less of the traditional Bond "style" this time around, though he does make a few of his typical remarks. I really liked how M was much better used in this movie.
During some of the action scenes (yes, a lot of them), I wasn't quite fond of the direction, they change camera angles and that stuff really fast, it was IMO sometimes more annoying than classy. My second complaint would be that Greene, this movie's villain, isn't exactly memorable. He's okay but he just isn't particulalry evil/creepy/otherwise memorable. And hey, remember some of the sillier old movies like Moonraker, you won't get more action-oriented than that http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif |

The title is a real Bond title though.http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif

"Quantum of Modicum"?? "Modicum of Solace" smartass. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...tongueanim.gif In other words solace is something difficult to quantify so a more general term than "quantum" makes a tad more sense. It's not like you have 2.8 solace units and I have 9.3 solace units. |
Then he was a dummy too http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...tongueanim.gif

How about Talcum of Solace? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/idea.gif

If it's a quantum of solace then you're not allowed to have fractional amounts of it. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/neeschud.gif |

Well, it would probably help if you asked after it came out in the US http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif.

The latest Bond actor is ****ing sexy. Yes. Finally, a hot James Bond. Pierce Brosnan was so-so and all the others were just total dogs, but this guy? Lord knows I'd be putty in his arms. He even wants to modernize the character by having him bisexual or at least play the role, as any good spy would, if the situation called for it. The head honchos of the franchise have shot down the idea ... for now; they haven't ruled it out for future movies. http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/200...BH_468x381.jpghttp://brightstarlights.files.wordpr...niel_craig.jpg Also, Punniest. Bond. Title. EVAH. http://towleroad.typepad.com/photos/...niel_craig.jpg |
Not in Greece, obviously, where bisexuality amongst men is an ancient tradition carried down to the present day. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif

bisexual men = modern?!? What NGR said, plus that James Bond character has been heterosexual since his inception. Craig wants to make the character appeal to a changing society and younger generations. That, and he probably enjoys being such a damned tease to his gay fans. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/nod.gif |

It is my often repeated opinion btw, that they should have made the James Bond series rather a 007-series, where each time they come up with a new actor, they´d also change the name (and character) of the agent. To me, it´s utterly rediculous, that JB is in action for like 5 decades now and he surely must have had a lot of face-jobs during this half-century. I wonder how much he spents on botox and viagra. It´s like they had called Picard Kirk... Either keep it in the 50´s/60´s setting, or move on with the charcters, i say ! And this way, they could actually have one or the other 007 die - imagine the suspension of not knowing, if he will actually survive ! Or they could have a former 007 (promoted to say, 004) help out the current 007... or join the ´dark side´... and they could indeed have a gay (or bi) 007 once, without putting it on every 007 to come (and everyone there ever was - sean-connery-bond was gay ?! please...) Why not just assume that James Bond is a fake name given to each of these agents, just like how the guys in Men in Black had to permanently abandon their real names? It's easier to just suspend disbelief in this way than to overanalyze it. |
Yeah, and Blofeld changes his appearance dramatically 4 times http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/tongue.gif
