Where's the No Country For Old Men option?
|
Nope, clearly inferior to the choices listed. So sayeth I, the Official Apolyton Arbiter of Good Taste.

The poll is also missing this:

Hot Fuzz definitely beats the above, but between the two it's LA Conf...

For real..it is like going to McDonalds and wanting Lasagne from Olive Garden... or coming to Apolyton..for serious conversation or fair and impartial debate... |
Oh and who could forget Unforgiven?
"Why you cowardly son of a bi**h! You just shot an unarmed man!" "Well he shoulda armed himself, if he's gonna decorate his saloon with my friend." |

Either you've never seen John Woo's Hard Boiled, or you have way less taste than I would have assumed.
Please correct whichever needs correcting, asap; the final half hour of Hard Boiled is the greatest shootout that ever has been or ever will be. |

From those two of course. THere's movies with better shootouts for sures. I OWN Hard Boiled http://www.discussworldissues.com/im...ons/icon14.gif My comment way directed at Guy's poll, not your post, Pekka. But your taste is now officially unimpeachable. Rufus, naturally, your excellent taste was not in question, there was no stage, there was no suspicion. http://www.discussworldissues.com/im...ons/icon14.gif

It's all about Scarface.

LA Confidential had a cool shootout scene. Two policemen, one with a revolver pistol and the other with a shotgun, fighting their way out of an ambush at a clapboard motel. At one point, the shotgunner bashes in some floorboards and crawls underneath the floor to shoot out the legs of their assailants outside, and the pistoleer inside takes advantage of their discomfiture by shooting them in the chests through windows.
That movie was really good but it was hard to catch all the plot twists and developments the first viewing through. I had to watch it a few more times in order to keep things straight. |
Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid - Bolivian Police Shootout
would be my choice. LeFlores wasn't out there. We'll be ok. |
Of the two, I voted for Heat .
Two old school choices: Bonnie and Clyde - car shootout The Godfather - toolbooth |
Fistful of Dollars
The Man with No Name: "I don't think that's very funny, you laughin'. Y'see, my mule gets the crazy idea that you're laughin' at him. Now...if you apologize to him, like I know you're going to...." Cowboys laugh. The Man with No Name throws the front of his poncho over his shoulder, revealing his holstered six shooter. He looks up with cold, deadly eyes..... |
