Funnily enough I researched him on wiki a couple of weeks ago and found out he wrote an obscure sitcom years back called Joking Apart that I always thought was totally brilliant and underappreciated. I haven't seen that one. But "Coupling" was bloody hilarious...

This week's episode was weird and how the hell did Rose Tyler appear on the screen in the spacecraft's entertainment system?

This Series definitly needs more Dalek

Rose and Martha were miles better.

What the hell??? K9 was hardly a companion. More of a gadget. In anycase, Sarah Jane Smith was probably the overall strongest companion as a character, although my personal favorite would have to be Peri. Mel would be my least favorite. It's a real shame that so many of the early episodes are missing, as it kind of limits our exposure to those early companions. Jaime, who hung out with the second doctor, in particular seems like a cool character. Also, whatever happened to male companions??? More, please!

What kind of a stupid poll is this when you haven't even got Romana on the list!!?

And the rest of you, call yourselves Dr Who fans...?

Romana (specifically Romana II) was the best companion hands down! She was his equal - indeed often looked down on him, and gave as good as she got. Not to mention that Lalla Ward was pretty hot and, as a bonus, is married to Richard Dawkins IRL...

As for DONNAH, I think she's awesome! None of this namby pamby thicky girl in distress with her! Obviously she's no oil painting - but that is not exactly the point of being the Doctor's companion...

Actually it is interesting just how shallow you lot are in this thread - basically as far as I can tell, most of you want your girls attractive, intellectually inferior and submissive...

Put Romana on the list!

Maybe some giant bee eating monster we haven't seen?

And another thing, wtf is up with RTD and his constant "Ooh, the world is ending all guns blazing the whole shebang" and whatnot? The world doesn't have to be in jeopardy in every bleedin' episode! It gets kinda tedious after a while. And now? "Ooh, every bloody universe is threatened by you know who... I'm leaving now so I'll go out with the biggest bang in Who-history..." Don't let the door to the Tardis hit your ass on the way out Mr Davies!
