If you were on the receiving end of their bullets and bombs, you might not take that view, DanS. The gusanos just attacked a journalist a weak ago for talking to anti-Posada demonstrators (Luis Posada being a convicted terrorist who is wanted in connection with this hemisphere's worst airline bombing).

Never was, though I was mentioned in Granma once, though not by name.

If only that were the extent of it, or, indeed, even a large part of it.

Dumb Republicans. So when are you going to Cuba to help suppress the counterrevolution?

If Cuba was allowed to make its revolution in peace, other people in Latin America might get the notion to try something similar. In fact, people did, despite the terrorism and embargo we've wages on them for fifty years. Other countries outside Latin America can be allowed to go Communist, but tributaries of the Empire are not allowed to try to be independent.

Sort of. It has more to do with being part of the Empire than being close by. Chile isn't close by, but we ****ed 'em just as good.

Cuba makes a better boogyman because of the proximity. Both the US and Cuba feed off of each other.

There's just too much money to be made in China to keep them as a boogyman. The powers that be always dreamed of making China one huge money making factory.

The LA Times has an article today on page A8, saying that Raul Castro has indicated he's favorable to turning over the ownership of farmlands to the farmers who farm it. And he might even allow family-owned stores to operate.

I remember when China began allowing its farmers to own the crops raised on a small portion of the land they worked. As a result, these private plots suddenly began accounting for a huge portion of China's farm produce.
