Default Tax filing question

Retain the proof of mailing to avoid a late filing penalty.
We recommend you use this method to send your 8453-OL:
- U.S. Postal Service certified mail

I received the 8453OL last night. With the post office closed Monday, how can I mail within 48 hours?

Also, I guess I have to walk in to the post office to get the mail certified? I think that's for if you file on April 15th. I don't think you have to hurry.

Don't worry about it, Apoc. You're cool. Think of that 48 hrs as being "within 2 business days." And yes, you have to go in to to PO counter to get the certified mail happening. There's a form to fill out and such. Plus it costs a couple bucks.

Generally speaking, if they owe you a refund, you can't get in trouble before April 15.

I've never actually had to mail anything in... I gather you were unable to digitally sign it (usually by indicating your previous year's AGI)?
