That's the most likely scenario.
![]() When I first saw the thread my concern was the lack of observation on a restrained individual. She sounded like she might be in need of restraining but who was keeping an eye on her? The full article says she was in some sort of holding room. What was in this room (furniture or other items? padded walls?) is not mentioned. I don't think we have enough info to really say what happened. |

the problem isn't getting the hands over the head, some people have double jointed shoulders and can do that. But once you did, how do you strangle yourself? Your arms would be extended above your head, not wrapped around your neck. And wouldn't she be in such a position when cops entered the room? You're a detective looking at her body, is she all contorted with the chain around her throat?

Even if she managed to navigate the chain on the cuffs to her neck, I don't think you could even strangle yourself with the chain since it's only 2 inches long. ![]() |

This just screams junkie.
Airport witnesses told police Friday that Gotbaum was "very loud, she was yelling and screaming and running around the concourse area," said Hill. Police "could not calm her down" and "it was very difficult for them to get her handcuffed." However, arresting officers "did not have to pepper spray her or [use a TASER device] on her or anything else," Hill said. Traveling alone, Gotbaum rebooked on a following flight, but "she became extremely irate, apparently running up and down the gate area," airline spokesman Derek Hanna told the Daily News. Airport workers who witnessed the arrest told the Daily News that Gotbaum was screaming, "I'm not a terrorist! I'm a sick mom! I need help!" A police officer put his knee in Gotbaum's back to restrain her while other arresting police grabbed her flailing arms, one worker told the Daily News. "I believe she was a little not-there," the worker told the newspaper. "She kept punching. She kept screaming. She kept kicking. She looked really scared, really frightened. I think she was afraid to go to jail." |
