What was the greatest MBT?

I hate you...

Chieftan

I agree. The only other viable candidate would be the M4. I don't want to laugh at you outright, I would prefer to see what you will use to support this statment first.

While simplicity of design should be considered s far as that helped with maintenance on the battlefield, we are not ranking the efficiency nation's industry.

GePap, the title says "greatest MBT", not "tanks that by sheer numbers won WW2." Start your own (very short) thread.

Hmntezmb 08-10-2007 02:19 PM

Eh, T-34 is a medium tank. Panther, otoh, is the first true MBT. It was a medium tank as far as the German's were concerned.

For Gepap, what tank would you want to ride into battle with in WWII, say around 1944? I doubt your answer will be the M4 http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/cute.gif

Too bad then http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif

Who still uses it?

The Sherman had a very long shelf life as well.

BrodiKennedy 08-15-2007 09:45 AM

I hope for them that they only use it for training purposes.

Using it in the regular fighting force sounds like a foolish thing to do as I doubt that any MBT from WW 2, even if used in great numbers would be a match for MBTs of the 80s or even more modern tanks.

VYholden 08-17-2007 04:25 AM

I thought that RPG-7s were almost as ubiquitous in the third world as AK-47s?

actioliGalm 08-22-2007 04:08 PM

if you include economics its t34 or sherman

Britiobby 08-22-2007 06:28 PM

on success you'd have to include Panver III and IV
