Default Comcast Internet
I've been on the 6m/384k package for about 9 months now, but I always get about 12m/350k sustained (16m down with powerboost) Now today my internet died and I looked over at my modem to see it resetting itself. Now I'm consistently getting this...

[thumbup]

God I hope it stays this way.

Good stuff!

Ahhhhhh. Now I get it. I have Comcast as well and I noticed that it would start off around 20Mbps and then drop, then I saw you mention and read up on it. Makes a lot more sense now.

But wait.. when did this happen???? I just ran these tests:

Here is my speed from ABQ, NM to El Paso, TX:

You lucky bast/rds. I hope your modems melt from all that speed and catch your computer on fire!

I am still getting the same old, same old. 8500/360 on a plan rated for 6000/384.

When I move into my apartment here in the next few weeks, I think that I am going to be getting the upgraded Comcast plan for $15 more that is rated for 8000/768.

Red dog - i just upgraded to that plan (only $10 more though) last night. Rebooted the modem this morning, and check this speed test:

Wow, my only choice is Charter and that maxes at 5000/512.

They have an "experimental" 10mb line they're testing with select customers. [rolleyes]

Comcast has been horrible back home, I'm at the uni now. Hopefully when I go back it will be nice. We get intermittent service and tests show about 1-1.5mb down [thumbdown] .

So yeah, Comcast just sold our area to Time Warner last year as part of the Adelphia going-out-of-business-spectacular, and it happened right before comcast started their powerboost and speed upgrades. Now that I'm on TW, we have NO speed upgrades in sight, unless you live in CA or NYC...[thumbdown]

Thats strange dude, we have been getting 20000+/384 for 3 months. Upload sucks but the download is nice.

Mine is the basic comcast plan and it's 6000/768 plus speed boost. Maybe they upgraded my area so we wont switch to verizon? I might bust them a call before I switch and give them one last chance to give me more free upgrades.
