I have a goatee. I grew it because I have a round, boyish face. The facial hair lengthens my face and makes me look closer to my age. I'm 24; I decided to do a clean shave a few months back and ended up getting carded for almost every rated R movie I went to see. It was irritating.
As far as the itching goes, Dis, you were right at the beginning of the itching period. I grew my beard out completely last winter. The beard itched me from about the 7th day of growing it until the end of the third week of growth. It stopped itching after that. |

I usually go a few months with a full beard. My eye sight is so poor that I get frustrated and fed up with shaving, so I quit for a good long while. I shaved last week for the first time since I don't know, October(?) and will continue to do so for a few months until I get sick of it again. Wash, rinse, repeat. I started minor shaving in 8th grade, but it didn't come in full strength until late freshman, early sophomore year. Shaving does indeed blow, especially when you're nearsighted at roughly -10 both eyes.
