Default What do Those Benchers really get out of it?
I am trying to find out what some people get out of benching for AMD, ATI, INTEL, INVIDIA besides advertising. I can't really find anything else then that and maybe you get to keep the hardware? anyone know the great perks behind this? I'm hoping to get a proposal to start benching as i herd my company did it a while ago.

Knowing full well that you're famous over the geeky community which is mainly infested by nerdy dudes with "OWN3D" or "n00b" tshirts.

It's just a hobby. It's fun. It's human nature to push stuff to the limit.

Also benching is a good way to find if you have set everything up perfectly, since you can compare the results with other people's setups.

That's why I used to love 3dmark 2k1. It was very, very balanced. Nowdays, seems like the benchmarks are more video card oriented, which IMO sucks :P.

Reknown high-end benchers are sponsored by companies and get samples of the latest and greatest before it goes to the shelves.

The others do it for hobby/pride.
