At least the heritage of this part of Servia will not be completely destroyed by the Muslims.
I think it is a good thing that Putin is doing, although how he will achieve it I don't know. Unesco has put the Decani Monastery on it's "List of World Heritage in Danger" but under the name of Medieval Monuments in Kosovo. Not even the words monastery and Orthodox are to be used... I wonder why. This world of ours is turning upside down. It seems that in the name of religious freedom, everything Christian is being attacked and while some world leaders love referring to God and to Christ and the fact that their lives are in the hands of God, their actions attest to something entirely different. "The patriarch (Russian) said he regrets that Orthodox churches in Kosovo have been destroyed "with the silent consent of Europe's public opinion and European politicians" in the past few years" Hypocrisy in all its splendour. "If anyone does not have the spirit of Christ, then he does not belong to Christ." I remember that Christ said something to his accusers concerning the fact that his actions attest to the fact that he is from God. I couldn't find the exact passage in the NT. Effie |

KPS takes over security of Serb monastery
5 August 2010 | 09:35 -> 17:09 | Source: B92, Tanjug GRAČANICA -- The NATO-led troops in Kosovo, KFOR, will today hand over the responsibility for the security of the Gračanica monastery to Kosovo police, KPS. The medieval Serbian Orthodox Monastery is located close to the Serb enclave in central Kosovo. It will be the first structure described as "marked as having special status", that will be now guarded by KPS members. The Serbian Orthodox churches and monasteries were placed under protection of KFOR because many were attacked and destroyed by ethnic Albanians in 1999, and 2004. Ministry for Kosovo State Secretary Oliver Ivanović said that the handover today "never represented a problem", since the municipality has a majority Serb population, and because the KPS members guarding the monastery will "mostly be Serbs". Serbian Orthodox Church Bishop Teodosije of Lipljan, however, stated on Thursday that the decision to hand over protection of the Serb monasteries to KPS would jeopardize security of the clergy, and warned that the decision was made without the consent of the Church.. Teodosije stated that by abolishing KFOR presence around the eight Kosovo monasteries will put in danger both the holy sites and the clergy, adding that this fact is being ignored. The SPC stated that such a decision is premature and risky, and the message was addressed to the NATO top officials including Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, NATO ambassadors, commanders of the NATO forces in Europe and admirals Stavridis and Fitzgerald. http://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics...5&nav_id=68894 Barbed wire around the monastery in Europe in the 21st century? ? |
