Default Google tries to buy Youtube
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/10/06/1752201

And I saw an article on the news this morning.

Do you think this is a good move or a bad move?

Makes no difference IMO. They both provide the same service, and they both get plenty of service from users. I don't think YouTube could servive on its own with the demand it has and has a lot of debt that it financed by selling shares - it can't do that forever.

I just think this would might become a money hole for google.

I read an article that stated for the amount of bandwidth and server space youtube needed to operate was pretty high and growing the way it was it was getting close to a point they wouldn't be able to keep up with the costs.

Hopefully this means that Youtube will offer something other than Flash videos. The Google video service is great because it offers avi and the like.

Only $1 million per month in bandwith costs, nothing Google can't handle.

Now if Google can effectively monetize Youtube and it's 100 million userbase....Jackpot!
