We have both a normal pool and a kiddie pool, so, keeping cool shouldn't be a problem.
hehehe, I can see XR throwing the pig in the pool (instead of a Dominican) for a swim after every quater in the Vikings games!! (read the Oh, God? It's Not Funny Anymore! thread)

Seriously, yes, this will be a house pet ..... I'm not sure about the nose-ring yet. I wouldn't like to have it done to the poor piggy. I might put up a pig pen in a corner of the yard where 'Hurricane' can make a mess if he/she wants to.

Stay well,
Amy

The secret to raising miniature pigs ...
... is to invite them to breakfast. As breakfast. Before they get too big.

Ours are all the regular kind here. Alba's not amused but I know and love and cherish them all. Let's see. There's tocineta, and jamon, and cerdo fresca, and ... Damn! I am hungry all of a sudden. Back in a while! Jose! Where's that machete ... ?

He did disrespect me by killing off my pets...Of course (You know me...) I never think like that sorry to say...
When I told Raul I was getting 3 of them he said "No one keeps pigs as pets.." Then when he saw them he said when they get bigger they will be good eating..He is a primitive "Campos" man...What can I say....
I just think Dominican people do not seem to feed their dogs and cats..I find it hard for them to keep pigs as pets...If AMY finds someone who has them make sure they post the info...It would make me feel better! I have kept all sorts of creatures as pets over the years that many would just eat..such as my gobble gobble friend "Tom"(That is his name..sorry Xanadu) but being in a third world country and dirt poor may make a pig an easy target for a hungry family..Something to think about anyway!...I know Xanadu is civilized..but how about the neighbors..LOL PAM

I've picked the name, now all I have to do is find the pig!

The Search Continues:

I've been on 2 piggie-expiditions to date, both unsuccessful in regards to piggies but very entertaining and worth a report.

A very good frined of mine contacted me and let me know that there was a posibility that I may find a miniature pig in Sosua. Knowing that I am unfamiliar with the area of Sosua, he offered to send someone with me - Jose. So, the next day Jose and I set of to find me a pig. With a little patience from both our sides (he speaks Spanish and I am English) we get to the house where the piggies are kept. I saw immediatley that these were normal pigs that turn out to be the size of small vehicles when fully grown.
When Jose realized that these are not the kind of pigs I am looking for he tried explaining this to the pig owner. The owner was insitant that if I do not feed the pig he was trying to sell me, it would not grow. I tried explaining that I really don't want a malnourished pig, just a different kind of pig ...... so the ownder told me about some sick pigs that he knew about. Then, he couldn't understand why I didn't want one of the sick pigs.
During this whole proccess I went from looking for a 'miniature pig' to a 'pig that doesn't grow'.
Does anyone know the translation for Miniature Pig or Potbellied Pig?
The second trip into piggie-land was much shorter ..... nobody knew where the guy we were looking for lives. Still, Jose is sure this man has the pig I want.
I will update shortly again in regards to the search for a miniature pig, in the meantime, Girlie - I wish you luck!!

Stay well,
Amy

P.S.
They are soooo smart, too! I train them to wander around the dinner table showing off various parts of their anatomy to dinner guests. Pleeeeeeaaaaase sir! Oink! Would you consider a nice butterfly pork chop, from right about, say here? I've been eating all the grain I can for the last 6 months just to make this night special for you! How about oink oink pickling my feet? I hear gringos really like that! I can just hop right off to the oink kitchen, ask the chef to lob a couple of as appetizers if you like? Yum! Yes? OK. I am off now, but I'll be joining you all later. I'll be around for breakfast, too. Hope you like maple cured!! Squeal! Hope you really enjoy me! And, thanks for the opportunity! Really! Oink! Oink! Squeal! Now if I could just get the rest of the help to be as dedicated.
