NYPD strikes again.

Disarm them now Mr. Mayor !
A police officer shot and killed a bodega worker who plowed into him on a sidewalk while frantically fleeing an armed robbery early Friday, a sudden encounter that the police department called a tragic accident.

Three men taken into custody at the bodega after the shooting were charged with murder, robbery and weapons possession, prosecutors said.

Dramatic security video released by police shows the uniformed officer, his gun drawn, positioned outside the Bronx shop's front door moments after a 911 call. In a flash, the store manager rushes out the door. Closely behind with his head down is Renaldo Cuevas, who runs full speed into the officer, sending both men tumbling to the sidewalk.

A pool of blood appears to form on the ground the instant Cuevas lands on his back. The officer is kneeling and pointing his semiautomatic at Cuevas when the video clip ends.

This brings up an interesting question. If you commit a crime, such as armed robbery, and you don't shoot anybody, but a cop accidentally kills someone, like this poor fellow who was killed here, can you be charged with murder even though it was the cop that killed the man?

Indeed... it's called "magical thinking".

They also do this in South Africa. The SA Govt charged a couple hundred miners (270) with the murder of the 34 miners shot dead by police. Charges has since been chucked out but not before they were thrown in prison.

If these dim-witted donut munchers are regarded as 'New York's finest' then I'm thinking that they've got extremely low standards.

Calling the cops 'the finest' anywhere, except if followed by 'scumbags' or the like, reeks of boot-licking.

It's disappointing that so many people (literally in this case) rush to the police to save them. The cops don't know who the "bad guys" are, hell they don't even care who the bad guys are, and if you rush to them as your saviors, you could very well find yourself dead. I hope many people will learn from this man's death that you do not count on the police to save you or protect you from anything.
