Default Wedding crowns
My daughter is making wedding crowns for our friends' wedding. She was going to make ones that had ribbon etc. on the face, quite simple, like a circlet. What we are stumped on is the base- what does one use as the 'base' of the crown?

Thanks!

Don't craft stores have thin wooden things that can be bent into circles? If not they might be able to recommend something else for you to use as they'd probably have experience (I would guess?)

Many of the modern (1950s and after) Greek-style stephana were made with a thick-gauge wire ring as a base, over which was wound a thinner-gauge paper-covered or fabric-covered wire. Wired fabric flowers resembling lemon blossom were also inserted into this covering wire as it was wound over the base wire. A broad white satin ribbon about a metre long and 2-2.5 cm wide should also be incorporated into the wreaths, linking the two.

Lemon blossom has long been symbolic of weddings in Greek folk custom. Many folk songs mention lemon trees in bloom as metaphors for finding a spouse.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Shortly after we posted, my daughter came across the sage and chocolate blog Georgina recommended and has been able to form a nice base with willow - I think she's planning to pretty much follow the blogger's directions. I will mention the lemon blossom to her as well though Olga.
Thanks again.

Yesterday evening we went to the wedding of the son of close friends. The wedding crowns were beautiful. Two strips of highly polished brass, wound together and decorated with lemon blossom (fake I think, but a high quality fake). They were simple and beautiful.
