Default Some bad press for Airsoft in Europe :(
Someone got killed at a location in Belgium this weekend. Fell through a floor and died instantly. I actually played at this location 2 months ago (its an abandoned brewery). All the parts of the building that were in disrepair were clearly sectioned off, and no-go areas during the skirms. All the free-access areas were solid concrete floors. I wonder if this chap was in a place he was not meant to be?

Sadly this will almost certainly damage the current push to get Airsoft legalised in The Netherland (its illegal because the police have a stick up their arse about the realistic look of the replicas).

In reality this is nothing to do with airsoft, and everything to do simply with someone being in an old building, and most probably going into a sectioned-off area.

Apologies for the google-translate:

In Schepdaal Flemish Brabant (Belgium) is a Dutch man killed in a game of airsoft, a controversial version of the popular paintball. The Dutchman fell through a ceiling in an old brewery and died instantly. In the Netherlands airsoft is banned, although there campaign to legalize. It is a sport that simulates a combat situation, but much more realistic than the more playful paintball.

Like paintball, two teams compete against each other to one or more missions to accomplish. But unlike paintball to be an airsoft replica's use of existing weapons, weapons-called AEG (Automatic Electric Guns), which in many variations available, from small guns to sniper rifles and even machine guns. The 'bullets' are plastic balls of 6 mm.
"A controversial version of the popular paintball". Bloody idiot reporter

Trying to get hold of my mates now to see if it was one of the guys from our team. I hope not.

It'll only be a problem if someone builds a real gun that looks like a Super Soaker CPS 2000

That's a damned shame, but the 'airsoft' side of it wasn't really that relevant, was it? Typical 'sensationalist' reporting!

I really don't get this Police hassle thing - the owners should use them in a responsible manner and the Police should consider them real firearms until it's confirmed they are not.
IIRC, some of this is because some crooks (AKA idiots) used SA 'guns' in bank and other robberies and the public were concerned that the robbers got shot when they weren't 'real'. IMO, shoot them and check later!
