Default Refurbished/ Used Mac Laptops
Im thinking of getting myself acquainted with Macs, im looking at G4 spec minimum.

Does anyone know of a good place to find them, they seem very pricey on ebay, cant believe how much even up to 8 year old macs actually cost.

That's why I sold mine. I could get $500 for an apple system and use that $500 to buy a PC twice as powerful.

Mac's do tend to hold their value well. Which in the world of computers is a surprise really. A perfectly working, mint condition G4 mac is just about useless for any of todays tasks, same as any similarly spec'd PC.

Old tech is old tech, no matter how mint it still is.

That said, I'd look more towards a intel based mac, used if you want. Those will give you significantly more life.

Honestly though, I'd almost consider just buying a Refurb mac on Apple's site if you wanna save some money.

I've also recently looked in to buying a Mac of some kind and can agree they're all very pricey on eBay but then a lot of them have been upgraded.
I found it's cheaper just to buy a new one with the educational pricing (I work in a college). It's annoying because I'd like to get an old iMac or Mac Mini but most of them are just as expensive as the new ones and the specs are sh!te. You're pretty much just paying for the OS and the privilege of owning a Mac because for the same price you can build a pretty damn good PC.

... still, would like to buy a Mac. Though mainly for my gf so she gets off my damn gaming PC

Honestly, you moan that they are more expensive in the first place and then you moan that they hold their values well.

I miss the old days, you know, when having a bit of fun with people didn't make grown men cry.

Just use linux like ubuntu or mint.....on a cheap pc and enjoy that. Waste of money to get a mac in my opinion.

I was checking out gumtree the other day and there were some pretty cheap G5 machines on there. They are about as fast as a C2D, but because they are PPC, there are a few newer apps that won't run on them anymore.

LOL. SnW couldn't form a coherent sentence. Let alone argue with so many people as eloquently as "dangermoose".

I'm not really biting, I'm just engaging in a bit of fun. Nobody seems very keen on having a laugh these days. Recession?
