Ron Paul Throwing in the Towel?
Ron Paul Statement on Campaign Going Forward
“We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future.” – Ron Paul LAKE JACKSON, Texas – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul issued the following statement to supporters and the general public concerning the continuation of his historic bid for the GOP nomination. The statement tees up forthcoming information the campaign will release concerning its fruitful delegate-attainment strategy still occurring at delegate-selection events such as state conventions ahead of the Republican National Convention in Tampa. Below please find comments from Congressman Paul: “As I reflect on our 2012 Presidential campaign, I am humbled by the supporters who have worked so hard and sacrificed so much. And I am so proud of what we have accomplished. We will not stop until we have restored what once made America the greatest country in human history. “This campaign fought hard and won electoral success that the talking heads and pundits never thought possible. But, this campaign is also about more than just the 2012 election. It has been part of a quest I began 40 years ago and that so many have joined. It is about the campaign for Liberty, which has taken a tremendous leap forward in this election and will continue to grow stronger in the future until we finally win. “Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process. We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future. “Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted. Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have. I encourage all supporters of Liberty to make sure you get to the polls and make your voices heard, particularly in the local, state, and Congressional elections, where so many defenders of Freedom are fighting and need your support. “I hope all supporters of Liberty will remain deeply involved – become delegates, win office, and take leadership positions. I will be right there with you. In the coming days, my campaign leadership will lay out to you our delegate strategy and what you can do to help, so please stay tuned. For Liberty, Ron Paul.” |
I think I'll wait till the end of the day before speculating too much. Drudge's headline is "PAUL OUT". So either they will release another statement clarifying that he's not out and just not spending money, or not say anything and let the doubt build, confirming he really is out.

That breakfast with ChairSatan had to have something to do with this...

I wonder if Paul will wise up and start questioning the constitutional issues of both Obama and Romney regarding their natural born citizen status. Seems like an opportune time to spring it.
|
He's not dropping out... his campaign just won't be running TV ads in primary states.

Maybe... 1. Romney/Paul ticket 2. Romney w/ Paul Sec. Treasury Doesn't sit well with me. I don't think Paul would go for it anyway. Maybe Paul super-pacs will advertise the right issues? |
My understanding is that Paul due to limited financial resources to begin with is just going to concentrate on the delegates and only the delegates. No point in trying to outspend a multimillionaire with billionaire backers in the states beauty contest.
|
I noticed that a George Clooney lead charity event raised $15 million for Barry this past week.
It seems like such an uphill battle money wise when your competitors are hooked up to the spigots. |
He didn't say in the statement that he continues running for president...

Vote down! Don't misunderstand this Submitted by Milton on Mon, 05/14/2012 - 14:59. Permalink I'm writing from California, where we just had a campaign meeting last night. Let me assure everyone that we are marching ahead full steam here in California, and I am hearing the same things from my friends in Texas. The support from the national campaign is still in place and is not winding down. We've had a very successful push over the last few weeks to register new Republican voters for Ron Paul. We WILL take several districts here and more importantly, we have created a network of liberty minded Republicans at the local and state level that WILL change the direction of the GOP for the foreseeable future. We have Liberty Republicans running for office all over the state and many will win. For Mitt Romney, becoming president is the end point. For Ron Paul, getting elected was always just a means to a greater goal of putting the government back under the control of the people and restoring the principles that made us great to begin with. Those of us in the trenches at the local level are fighting for the principles and ideas laid out by Ron Paul. This is the good fight and in this respect we are seeing unbridled success. Would this be easier if Dr. Paul was in the White House? Surely it would but in any case this movement is not going to stop under any circumstances. The delegate strategy is moving ahead full steam, believe me the campaign knows what it is doing, and I am confident we will have a brokered convention in Tampa. I already booked my flight. Freedom is not free or easy. Don't give up now keep up the fight for the ideas even as we support the man |
Ron Paul ends active campaigning but will continue to run for GOP nod
Get short URL email story to a friend print version Published: 14 May, 2012, 22:49 https://rt.com/files/usa/news/paul-c...ful-paul.n.jpg Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul (AFP Photo / Jewel Samad) TRENDS: US Election 2012 Congressman Ron Paul has announced that he will no longer be using resources to campaign in primary states, instead focusing all of his efforts on delegate-selection events as he vows to continue to vie for GOP nomination for presidential candidate. Rep. Paul (R-Texas) issued a statement on his official website on Monday announcing that he will immediately begin to concentrate on collecting delegates at state conventions in lieu of traditional campaigning in states where he will have to compete in GOP presidential primaries. "Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process. We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that liberty is the way of the future," reads the statement. "Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted. Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have.” Following the bowing out of Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich in recent weeks, Rep. Paul has become the most likely opponent to Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney in terms of taking the GOP nomination. Both men are vying for the Republican Party’s nod so that they can challenge incumbent President Barack Obama during this November’s election. In Monday’s statement, Paul suggests that by continuing to accumulate delegates, he stands to give Romney a run for his money come the RNC later this summer in Tampa, Florida. Paul says he will continue to try to accumulate delegates, a strategy that has been considered unorthodox by many but has so far proved to be mostly successful. “I hope all supporters of Liberty will remain deeply involved – become delegates, win office, and take leadership positions.I will be right there with you.In the coming days, my campaign leadership will lay out to you our delegate strategy and what you can do to help, so please stay tuned,” says the congressman. CNN reports that, as of April 1, the Ron Paul for President campaign has roughly $1.8 million in the bank—quite an accomplishing statistic given that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich suspended his campaign while $4.5 million in debt. Last month Paul’s campaign manager, Jesse Benton, told reporters, "I am not going to try to deceive you, and say that Romney doesn't have some advantages…But until he has 1,144 delegates, we are going to press on with our campaign." https://rt.com/usa/news/paul-continue-gop-campaign-239/ |
Yep, similar reports are all over the place, it's top story news on my homepage. I have NEVER come across a pro RP article in the MSM, and very few that even mention him. Now the lines read "Ron Paul Quits Campaign." etc. etc. and are all over.
The articles state that he is simply not spending money in the remaining 11 primary states which would cost ten of millions. He is rather focusing consolidating his delegate count. |
Mark this day well my friends
With end of his Campaign it also marks the end of the last means of peaceable recourse to address our concerns. The die has been cast.....War is coming to The Streets of America. Get ready the best way you know how. |
Got this in an email:
Thank you for volunteering and supporting Congressman Ron Paul for President! Many of you have sacrificed your money, your homes (meeting and events), resources and the most precious gift you have…your time. Many of us have all been at this in California for since 2007 and we thank you. If you have not already heard that The Ron Paul 2012 Campaign is not spending any money in Primaries at this time. this does not mean he is dropping out of the race. Ron Paul is still on the ballot and the delegate process is still up for grabs in California. As always and in all campaigns it is up to you the volunteers to make it happen. I repeat he is not dropping out of the race I got this straight from Jesse Benton. The funds are just not there for news and TV ads but we are still going door to door and phoning the voters here in California and elsewhere in the country and we still have plenty of materials to go around. It has been by your efforts that we have the delegates going to Florida to vote for the only man who can take our country back for the brink. In the last 20 days before the June 5th primary we will continue to push to take our political process. So tell all your friends He is still in the race and your vote and their efforts count. I will also release a list of names of liberty candidates throughout the state that are supporters of liberty. |
T T i have done my best . but i feel my best will not be all i need . time is short my friends , every day you hear more bad news , it seam it a never ending thing

Sadly, 99% of the people out there will now be convinced that RP has dropped out, even though he hasn't. I hope this backfires on the lying deceptive MSM! |

Im still analyzing all of these angles to see how they all fit together to make an speculation as of now. But this move seems a bit strange at the first look.

Ron isn't going anywhere except to Tampa.
For weeks no matter what happened with our victories in the state conventions the media has been silent and if anything the blackout has gotten blacker. What hasn't been known is that our opposition at these conventions has gotten dirty, cheating, stuffing ballot boxes, rule changes and ignoring of the rules. They've seen us coming and have prepared, to the point that we now have to have a lawyer and a parliementarian present to keep the cheaters in line. The mitty/RNC folks were coming out in force and out of the woodwork to stop us. With this little announcement that RP is "quitting", how on guard to ya think they'll be? The only way for them to combat this is for them to in turn say "Ron Paul is still a threat!", countering the prevailing meme, which they do not want to do. I'll also reiterate a point, RP cannot be perceived as leading thousands of rowdy delegates/supporters to Tampa but if they lead him there it's kind of out of his hands. He knows he created a gigantic snowball that cannot and will not be stopped, even if he wanted to he won't and can't. (free marketplace http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/smiley.gif |
