Default Taking a break
Dear Brethren and Friends in Christ,

I'll be taking a break from Monachos for awhile. I truly appreciate those of you who have been patient in answering my questions.

God grant each of you His immeasurable peace and consolation.

In our Savior's Love,

Darlene

Phillipians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

I am glad you ask questions here Darlene. Your questions are often my questions. This is a good time of the year to take a break and enjoy the beauty of nature. We will take a trip to a cabin in the mountains in KY or TN in a few weeks when the leaves turn. The hiking trails are magical when the leaves of the trees and the forest shrubs are blazing with brilliant colors. Also, in my neighborhood we will have our annual chili cookout in three weeks. Normally, there is one very large batch of chili cooked over an open fire for all. It's a special time to be outside with the neighbors in the evening doing this each fall. This year we are trying something called a "chili dump" . . . I seem to be the only one who hasn't heard of this before. Each family brings a regular sized batch of chili from their house, the way they make it, and dumps it in the big pot and then in the end there is one batch with a unique flavor. Time made for family and friends, good food, the beauty of nature . . . October is a good month to recuperate and find communion and union. Happy October Darlene!

rick, I hope I'm not butting in here but your post reminded me of the audio I was listening to this morning.
Walking by Thoreau. You can download this from Librivox.

Rick, what exactly goes into your chilli? Is it a secret?

What a great essay Effie. Here's another parting shot (from the last paragraph in "Walking") for you Darlene. As Antonios said, may you saunter back soon

So we saunter toward the Holy Land, till one day the sun shall shine more brightly than ever he has done, shall perchance shine into our
minds and hearts, and light up our whole lives with a great awakening light, as warm and serene and golden as on a bankside in autumn.

Maybe I can introduce you to Cincinnati Chili in the Between Friends thread Effie.

God bless you, Darlene. I hope you won't stay away forever, but God will let you know when it's time to come back.
