Default Why do new kitchens look like they'd be better on the star ship Enterprise
I realise the gloss, plastic(?), shiny finish might be what guys will want in their bachelor pads, but for a house, for something i want to call home, i want a nice kitchen where i feel like im at home, not on some bloody star ship.

Oh hello by the way!

Take a look at Woodmode if your looking for a more cozy home style. Here's is a link to my Mom's business with some pictures of kitchens she has done. http://sierracustomkitchens.com/gallery/index.htm

Give me stainless steel appliances and a Victorian look and I'll be happy. I want to re-do my house either victorian or steampunk. Too many kitchens these days trying to be high tech rather than home. Totally agree with you.

I´ve been looking at kitchens the last few weeks and my God there are a few shitty looking kitchens out there, especially those glossy looking ones.
And Tbfh i´m also utterly shocked at how pricey they are too, my new Kitchen is pretty gonna set me back 10k € ! And it´s just a normal ****ing kitchen nothing really high class either

I wonder if sexual inclination has anything to with taste in kitchen design? Would you like pink cupboard doors?

Pink is an awesome color. I can think of another set of pink doors that I like. It also involves wood, but they're not made out of wood.

So I guess you guys wouldn't like the kitchen in our new house?

Lots of room everywhere! Large drawers most places, instead of just cupboards. Stainless steel appliances and 5 zone induction cooking plate. The tables are stone all around, so you won't have to worry about where to place hot pots and pans etc.
All in all, very practical. And Golem, I feel your pain mate. This stuff is friggin' expensive!

I like that sleek scandinavian design, clear and straight. Its how I would design my kitchen.

BUT that window is a no no. You cant walk into the kitchen naked and hump the wife/gf right there.

It seems too clinical.

It would depend on the house, it would look daft in a ranch. I like the style though.

How about my kitchen?

I chose to go wood on the floors because I wanted a very warm and inviting kitchen. I need to get pics of it now that its finished.

Good job and nice look!
I like the wood too (in my house wooden floors but ceramic tiles in bathrooms)

Now what is laptop doing next to sink?

Well, I am from Denmark, so that explains the style :P Since you're in Germany, you probably know, that we are quite minimalistic.

As for the humping, your argument doesn't entirely hold true, there are french blinds (I don't know if they're called that in English, but it's what we call them here in DK) that we can just pull in front of the windows. So kitchen humping is still "on the table"
