Default Any star trek fans know of where to get a decent replica of the enterprise?
Been interested in getting a decent replica of the Enterpise D and E and was wondering if any of you have come across any?

edit: not really looking to build one either, and i want it to be of decent size, like 12" + long

There was a cinamatic replica company a couple years back that made 24" and 36" movie/show accurate models of the ships along with starwars, battlestar gallactica, Firefly, and the like but they have since closed their doors. I have one of there 36" models of the Serenity from Firefly and at the time it cost me $5600usd. Every so often you see one of their replicas on ebay and craigslist but they are rare.

When I get home tonight I will post the name of the company.

I'll build them for you. I've done thousands of models and I am quite good at it. I have done some really big ones as well. Let me know what sort of budget you have for doing it and I will put together a parts list and what size I can do for the funds provided.
hmm im not really sure how much i have to spend to get something decent? (I had a model of the enterprise d that had all sorts of crazy fiber optics that i gave up on because it was too complicated lol)

How much would you say id have to spend to get something decent? It doesnt have to be super fancy materials, just decent size and with a good paint job

$50? $100? $200?

I used to have a load of these by Bandai, but gave them all away last year when doing a clear out. Didn't realise they were actually worth anything, guess I should have sold them. [no]

It all depends on the size of the model. I'll look for them at 12" or bigger and get some prices. Allot of it has become collectable so not sure what the prices are atm. I buit a bunch of ST models awhile back and they were around $50 a kit. Give me a few and I will post up what I find.. I still have all the tools to do the work but my paints are really old and are more than likely bad by now. I will get a color list up for doing the two and include it with the rest. They are cheap so it won't add much to the price.

I have built both before.. The painting and detail work is what takes all the time when building them. I prepaint as much as I can before hand and then add the rest once it's all assembled. I also use a decal sealer so that the models can be handled without damage to the decals. If not then they tend to stick to your fingers when touching from the moister in skin.
I really like the extremely complicated ones as the detail is so much better with them. The E model I posted is molded in clear and those are the best to work with for detail as you can keep the windows clear as well as add leds to light things up if you want. The few I added that to really came out nice and looked awesome on display.
My favorite builds are balsa though I must say. I built quite a few large RC planes and had a blast flying them. Crashing one really sucks though.. I lost a few to that.. All the work and effort building them and it's all gone in an instant.
My pops was into it with me when I was young and had built a WWII spitfire and I had built a p51. The first time out with them my dads went up in flames.. He was so pissed off.[cursing] It caught on fire the first time he started the engine for it due to a fuel leak and burned to the ground in about 30 seconds.. Needless to say, he quite the hobby..
ok so i see the price of the two that you listed, what would you charge to assemble them?

I had that Enterprise D. It looked nice after I painted it, but I was frustrated that the slightest nudge would cause the saucer section to fall off. I can't count how many times it fell on the floor, even from closing my bedroom door too suddenly.
