just venting
fucking county employees.
the plow truck guy just took out my mailbox for the second time. not being thrown down by the force of snow hitting it, no, he clipped it with a plow. twice now. just got back from the county office, of course they'll "talk to him." i can fill out a form and they'll replace it it with a cheap $12 aluminum box "when they have time." great, what do i do until then? oh, i can fix it myself and they'll send me a check for $12. i hate the government. |
"I hate the government" is a perfectly normal reaction. We are brothers in arms!
These mist covered mountains Are a home now for me But my home is the lowlands And always will be Some day you'll return to Your valleys and your farms And you'll no longer burn To be brothers in arms Through these fields of destruction Baptisms of fire I've witnessed your suffering As the battles raged higher And though we were hurt so bad In the fear and alarm You did not desert me My brothers in arms There's so many different worlds So many different suns And we have just one world But we live in different ones Now the sun's gone to hell And the moon's riding high Let me bid you farewell Every man has to die But it's written in the starlight And every line on your palm We're fools to make war On our brothers in arms |

Get an W8x48 I beam and incase it 60" below grade in concrete with about 3' of concrete above.
If he hits it after this upgrade, the driver will remember where that post is next time. Oh and add like 100 of those little reflectors up and down your road along with a 8'x10' sign that reads "chad's mailbox is here" with a blinking arrow pointing towards the mailbox. |
tell the post office of the wanton disrespect and destruction of postal property!...let the government fight the government sit by and watch the fireworks.

Oh did I mention, he built his own mailbox out of 1/4" steel and welded it to the I beam? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/grin.gif He died a few years ago, but that mailbox has been hit several times over the years and it is still standing proud, tho with slightly battered bricks! I think that dam thing will outlive the house on the property. y_rofl.gif |
the really evil part of me want to find out who the driver is, then go over to his house tonight and take out his mailbox.
ground is frozen solid as well, so i don't know how i'm going to pound a new stake in. i guess i'm going to have to quick crete a post in a 5 gallon bucket or something. |
If you screwed a mailbox to the roof of an old car and parked it at the end of your drive...would it be postal property?

This is a lil OT but in the same vein. My uncle was having his mail box vandalized/destroyed by some kids driving down the road and wacking it with an aluminum baseball bat. Obviously he got tired of fixing or replacing it, which was regularly after he had repaired it. The last time he filled the box with cement, raised the flag and watched and waited. At some point in the night here they came, the kid with the bat hanging out the backseat window, cocked and ready to swing...well ...recoil's a bitch and the bat snapped back and nailed the dude in the head...nighty night w/ a concussion. They stopped to collect their friend and met my uncle who got the kid conscious and told them to take him to the hospital. Then in the middle of the night he replaced the concreted version with a shiny brand new one, disposed of the old one and never had a problem again.
