If they are having issues with battery life being short, I can almost guarantee that is the reason there was no 4g included on this phone. 4g is a freaking battery hog, atlease lte is.

all I have to say is that you havnt seen bad battery life till you have used an htc thunderbolt in a 4g area when on the stock rom. The first day I had 4g on my thunderbolt it was in my pocket all day because I was climbing around in an attic pulling wire. the battery died in 7 hours vs about 20 hours in 3g. I went home that night and rooted it so I could get off the god awful stock rom.
[rolleyes]

Ive had my Thunderbolt for half a year and Houston has a very large area 4g coverage. I use my phone all day every day at work for email, flashlight, notes, office/excel, music, pictures, gps, phone calls, checking news. Its pretty much getting used all day like a workhorse. I start using the phone about 8am, I get home from work about 5-6pm, battery is usually at about 30% remaining. Still has enough juice to chat on the phone at night our play some angry birds while on the pot. Of course I keep an eye on what my phone is doing, I have a simple control panel for wifi, bluetooth, gps, brightness, auto sync etc, with a simple touch of my finger I keep them on or off. Also, I dont run live wallpapers and I dont crap my phone up wit ha bunch crappy apps.

My wife also has a t-bolt, if she charges it all night, it lasts all day. Id say that the tbolt lasts about 14 hours of moderate to heavy use, however, you have to charge it every night, even if you dont use the phone at all during the day, your battery will still drain out at about 20 hours or so. I dont mind charging my phone every night, as Im sleeping anyways, its worth the tradeoff to get insanely fast 4g speeds.

In the new beta they have re-enabled multitasking gestures for iPad 1 too! Hope that makes it to the final release.

Default iPhone 4S battery complaints flood in
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/iphone-4s-b...144900417.html

New iPhone 4S owners are starting to fill forums and Twitter feeds with complaints about their handsets' battery life. Although some are suggesting that iOS 5 has also had a negative effect on power usage on other iDevices, it is the new Apple phone that is attracting the most frustration.

Apple's own forums are seeing the most amount of messages from concerned customers, with one user, Scarface, posting, "My iPhone 4S battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and its terrible battery life.
anyone here got one? seems alot of ` angry from aberdeen` , but will battery life be this phones issue?

All I can say is that if anything my iPhone 4 battery life has improved. It seems perfectly reasonable that a dual core CPU with 7x faster GPU would drain the battery much quicker when it is obviously the exact same size.

It's notification center and location services doing this. You need to remove unnecessary items from those locations. It's 1PM right now and my 4S is at 85%. I've only had a few calls on it today, but I've been texting and emailing all morning. I'm usually down to about 45% by the end of the day. My iPhone 4 was the same way. I don't notice any difference in battery life.

Edit: I have wifi and bluetooth enabled 24/7.

I dunno if it's a good habit or not but I always close my apps after using them. Seems to preserve battery life a little better. (double clicking home button, hold app, close.)

On the iPhone I doubt it makes any difference as it doesn't do true multi-tasking.

LOL - it's a fair point, but at the same time why should you have to? I expect my £700 handset to be able to manage its use of these services itself, why have them otherwise?

I wouldn't call it a joke. Arguably, it is the best solution for a smartphone if you care about battery life. There are certain calls apps are allowed to make in the background. The reason it's not true multitasking is the OS doesn't allow the app to have full access to the OS like in a typical desktop OS or on Android.

Android suspends apps when "minimised" after a short while to save RAM and processor. I assume iOS is pretty similar.

iOS suspends them immediately I think (don't have time to double-check right now), so it shouldn't matter if you close them or not.

Well I don't care, it sucks having to have my prefered messaging or whatever internet based application running in front, because as soon as the system locks the screen it kills whatever the app is doing, I'm considering to change to android for that small reason.

Battery life on my phone has been slightly better than my old 3GS, but inevitably it's going to be worse than the 4 due to the hardware it packs in conjunction to a minor increase in battery capacity.

I can't complain to be honest. It's lasted me nearly two days on two occasions and the software runs much faster than my 3GS did.

Do not turn off wifi if you're in an area where wifi is available. Wifi uses less battery then 3G. Constantly scanning for wifi to autoconnect where there is non available will eat life.

Android kills apps when it needs the memory- there is no time limit. Of course the application can tell android to suspend or flag itself as available to be killed at it's own discretion once it's minimized.
