Default UK HSBC Secure Key Timeout
Hi All,

My Dad's having great trouble with this new HSBC secure key that they are now mandating for Online Banking. The timeout on the device is far too short for him, as he finds it difficult to enter numbers from the secure key onto the website.

I've tried contacting HSBC, but they seem pretty useless at the moment.

Does any of you lot know if it's possible to change the timeout on these devices?

Cheers all.

Surely they'd have one for the visually impaired which could talk? Seems a bit daft if they don't?

Yeah, he's got the larger format one (it even reads the instructions to you). Unfortunately, if you take longer than 30 seconds to perform an operation, it turns the system off. Dad would be fine if it gave him a minute or so, he just finds it difficult to locate the numbers

Numbers on the PC or secure key? If it's for PC you can get easy read keyboard.

Interesting idea - cheers for pointing it out. I think it's mostly a problem of looking at the first digit on the secure key, back to the keyboard to type then back to the secure key. Repeat that 6 times, and you've taken more than the time out value so it turns off before he's got to the last number.

If you can't change the timeout (stupid, stupid HSBC!!!) then I guess it'll just be a matter of practise.

Thanks for the help [yes]
