Did you get the 5 disc US version or the poor 1 disc UK version they tried to lumber us with?
Yeah that was ridiculous. I think i actually paid less than the UK price to get the 5 disc set imported by Movietyme.com as well!

Excellent film, the Final Cut makes the film finally seem complete. I love how he went about fixing the things he disliked about the effects as well (take note Lucas!). A subtle approach of digitally removing the 'strings' holding up the spinners and re-filming the shop window scene with the real actress, on top of an excellent cleanup and 4k transfer.

I just hope this much care and attention goes into some of my other favourites when they get released on blu-ray.

AWESOME MOVIE. Best blu-ray transfer by far. I can actually see the environments and they are gorgeous. Art Design is incredibly beautiful. This is probably the best transfer I have seen.

The book is excellent as well. Different story but it's fantastic too.

I just recently watched it for the first time, but can't recall any scenes being emotional enough to cry

Glad to hear it finally got a good Blu-Ray transfer. I remember for years waiting on an anamorphic DVD version.

Anyways, one of my favorite movies. I've got an HD recording of it on my DVR from HDNET Movies. Haven't had a chance to view it. I'd imagine it's an HD version of the new Blu-Ray transfer. Not sure if it's the "Final Cut" or not. Roughly how much extra footage is their? Does it change anything significant plot wise? I remember hearing that it hints more at Harrison Ford's character being an android.

As an aside, did anyone enjoy all the BladeRunner references in Fallout3? especially the quest "The Replicated Man"? Fallout3 is awesome like that![thumbup]

A broadcast HD version unfortunately won't hold a candle to the BD transfer.

I am not 100% on the differences as I have only watched the Final Cut even though the other 4 versions came with the collection but I think the main difference are some extra scenes and V.O.

Agreed with everyone else really, if your going to start a Blu-ray collection, this is definitely the first movie to get, the Final Cut transfer is absolutely superb and puts the DVD version to death...

I didn't watch this on BluRay (rented DVD) and I just watched half of it, must be the first movie with Harrison Ford I didn't like but I'm going to watch it again the whole later on..but I don't think I will like it..

Am I alone?

A lot of people, including myself, feel that way upon their first viewing. I think a lot of the time, people are expecting another Star Wars or Indiana Jones action movie and are kind of disappointed. Then you usually get the urge to watch through it again and find you enjoy it more, and then you can't stop watching it over and over as you pick up on all the subtlety. It has now become one of my favourite films of all time, and i even changed my Gamertag last year to reflect this. [yes]

If you are going to try and watch it again, here's a tip. Don't watch it solely from a Sci-Fi perspective.

I personally think that is where it loses people. They watch it like any other Sci-Fi and miss some of the subtlety of it.

Ya I think so since I like Sci-Fi but I don't know what part I should look far. The problem is I have hard time finding good stuff in too old movies unless it's very clear.

the bluray is a mixed bag. The "final cut" is a little too manipulated... too dark, colors are a bit funky. It was clearly transferred well, but I really wish they just left it natural for the "final cut" version. Beautiful movie though, and think about it... that movie is from 1982... Think alien 1979. No CGI, no super low grain film, all by hand editing, etc... and they are reference hi-res content. Quite remarkable achievements.

Well I wasn't expecting Star Wars, or Indiana Jones, but the first time I saw it, [cough] when it was released, it didn't really do much for me. I enjoyed it, but I didn't walk away thinking it was the best movie I had ever seen.

Now years later, several viewings and re releases... It is like you said, one of my all time favorite films.[yes]

Really? Multiple reviewers have mentioned that the colors are right on the money with good shadow detail and black levels.

I have certainly been blown away by the IQ on my systems.

I think you're right, it'll probably require multiple viewings. I love the sci-fi look and feel to it, but I just couldn't help wanting more out of it. I'm going to pick it up on blu-ray and watch it again. [yes]

You can see some of the huge changes here: http://bladezone.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2555

I prefer to say that they put a coat of Michael Bay over the film. It still looks good but its not as perfect as it could be.

The contrast and color temperature is certainly different and I cannot comment on the Final Cut DVD but I can say (as well as reviewers) that the colors, shadow detail/delineation are spot on in the BD version as far as image fidelity.

I mean who are any of us to comment on the intended color correction applied to the transfer?

Not only that, HD content is afforded a broader color space.
