Well I have not had a bike for like 5 years or so. I am looking to get back on the road again, I have a full licence since 1996. What would be a good bike to get baring in mind the biggest I had was a 250CC Honda Superdream
![]() I want to get a cheap one to start with, until I get used to it. So under £1000 would be ideal, but it needs to be economical. I like muscle bikes or streetfighters none of that fancy faring crap and upright sitting position. What about a ER-5 or a SV650 or even a Bandit 600? Any suggestions of what to get and also I know nothing about mechanics, so it needs to be easy to maintain ![]() |

Naked bike, as mentioned in streetfighter/muscle style ( think GSXR 1400 etc ) Not sure about cylinder as not very technical minded ![]() The majority of the bikes around are either 2 cylinder of 4. In a nutshell: in general a 4cyl bike will make the high-pitch sound and will relatively have more power in the higher RPMs. where as a 2cyl bike will make less rpms and will relatively have more power in the lower RPMs. 1cyl bikes are usually the supermotards/off-roaders. Good 4cyl naked starters< £1000 - Suzuki Bandit 600 (probably more than 1000 pounds) - Honda CB1 2cyl: - Suzuki sv650 (probably more than 1000 pounds) - Kawasaki er-5 - Suzuki gs500 - Honda CB500 etc. |

Sounds to me you're looking for a two cylinder motorcycle. A good idea would be to find a large English motorcycle forum, browse the Classifieds, see what's available at what price, see if there's anything that really strikes your fancy.
Also, test drive. Test drive. Test drive. Good 4cyl naked starters< £1000 - Suzuki Bandit 600 (probably more than 1000 pounds) - Honda CB1 - Yamaha FZR 600 ![]() The Yamaha FZR line isn't naked... Are you thinking of the FZ1 or something? |

The new Triumph Triples are supposed to be amazing bikes...a nice mix on the motor, and pretty comfy as well....yet still pretty bat out of hell like the 4 cyl with a better sound, etc.
I recently went from an R1 to a Roadstar (Yamahas) sportbikes are awesome because of the power handling, everything. But I couldn't take what it did to my knees (I'm 6'2") and freeway riding was horrible IMO, plus even worse for passengers...and no storage. Roadstar is heavy, far less powerful (in spite of being 1700cc). But a Vtwin has its own charms. Now with no baffles sounds badass, I have a back rest, footboards, saddlebags. Hell I can go on a trip with it and take my fiancee. Depends what you want out of a bike. Many bikes these days are singular purpose...really good at something but not at others. Edit: It would be nice if I actually read the OP. A bandit or Nighthawk S would be a good choice. The S was a mid 80s bike, a sort of sportbike...it was pretty damn fast, but had a shaft drive, could be had for cheap now and a great bike for you if you can find one. |

well i don´t have a motorcycle, nor a motorcycle drivers license, but i´ve been officially convicted 3 times for driving a motorcycle without a license (once a small 50ccm scooter, then a 125ccm Honda (I believe it was CRM not sure though) and then what really got me into trouble was a Ducati 500 Pantah on the Autobahn, got pulled over by the cops in a 60 zone, with +130 km/h.)
I really dodged the bullet on all charges though cause i was under 16 ![]() Anyways if i were you, í´d get a Ducati awesome and fun machines ![]() |
