I got a car!
i just got it today (my aunt gave it to me)...a 1997 infiniti QX4.
http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/5701/qx4frontix0.jpg http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/2...nterioruz3.jpg i love it...sunroof, leather, climate control, and one of those little outside temperature and direction display thingys that i always thought were really cool...it's way, way better than even my dad's car... i'm really happy right now...it's dirty at the moment but i'm going to wash it tomorrow, and clean it out...i'm really excited http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/driver.gif Modified by SV at 7:00 PM 2/18/2007 |

good for you. IMO its better than the camry you wanted. |
congrats to you, this is the car i'll never be getting, that i want to have
|
very nice score bro. :)

Good for you man! That's an awesome first car! Let us know how it drives after you've had it for a little while http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emwink.gif
I remember my first car. It was a crappy Jeep, but I still miss it somehow http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsad.gif |

I like those trucks. I don't think they ever had a recall. Maybe some with the rear hatch hinge recall. Just be careful, the transfer case likes to go on them. |
well i feel dumb now, it's a 1997 QX4, not a 2000...not that the difference is that big though, they didn't change much from '97 to 2000...thanks for all the comments guys! it drives great, i was surprised by how smooth it is...

I do believe I see a 4WD shifter in there. Ditch the running boards and you'll have a decent off roader, even stock. A couple of my friends in high school had Pathfinders of that vintage and they were surprisingly beastly off road. There were a couple of places that my friends with Jeeps thought they would get stuck, but they got through easily. Dunno if that kind of stuff is your thing, but it is quite doable with that vehicle. Congrats.

Hey mate, congratulations! I'm happy for you. That's an awesome car. We know them as Pathfinders here, but they're the same. They're very good and reliable. Remember it wont win handling olympics, being an SUV and you'll be right. You have a decent offroader too if you were keen on taking it into moderate rough stuff.
Congratulations mate! |
nice ride, though i have to say there is a diff from a 97 through 200, a slight change in the headlamps before the full facelift the follwoing year, but thats way off topic
but congratulations on teh ride, i had a friend who had a pathfinder and it was a pretty sweet ride, except he didnt take car of it so i twas always covered in birdsh!t. how many miles does it have right now? |
it's got 186k right now http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emdgust.gif that's what's been worrying me, there's so many miles on it i'm afraid it'll die soon, but then again it's a nissan/infiniti so it should last a while yet...

Wouldn't worry too much mate. 186,000 Miles Isn't that bad. My cousin has a Navarra pickup (Frontier) and treats it like absolute rubbish. Lots of sliding and burnouts and harsh gearbox and clutch treatment, lots of redlining it, and he's even got some air in it. He's owned it for 5 years, has put hundreds of thousands of Kms on it (It now has 596,000km) and the thing is still running strong. It amazes me. Keep notice of how much oil it's using and how much smoke it's blowing. If both start getting higher than normal, sell it, but before then, you should be right http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emwink.gif |
IF you maintain it and treat it right it should go 300k plus, doubt you'll have it that long. Just be ready to repair normal stuff that goes out. Has a new timing belt been put in?

i'm not sure, my aunt replaced alot of old parts right before she gave it to me (shocks and brake pads for one thing), but i'm not sure about the timing belt...the repair record for the car since my aunt bought it in '99 is in the glovebox though, i'll need to check... |
You need to change the timing belt every 65,000 miles. With 180k miles on it, you might be looking into that timing belt before it snaps (although in that engine it shouldn't be a dreadful damage if it does. But its not worth waiting till then anyway).
Congrats once more http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emwink.gif |
