Binoculars for dad's birthday, need advice.
The title says it all. He likes nature and the birds (The feathered kind) that frequent the garden. So me and my mum are going to put some money together and give him a treat with some Binoculars but have no clue in what to get, maybe something light weight and easy to handle, that's about all the info I can give you guys at the moment. Never even used Binoclars in my 35 years on this planet, so any help and advice would be great.
So, good quality set, for Ornithological use, light weight and easy to handle etc. I'm in the UK. Don't know budget i'll see what you kind gents can come up with. Cheers in advance for any help given. |
Depends good binoculars can easily exceed 500€,
But just yesterday i was looking at a review of the "Steiner Wildlife 8x24" for about 180€ and that was tested very well, you might wanna have a look |
Vortex is the hot lick right now. They have very good optics at a very good price.

I'd say this whole Ornithological use is just a cover. Do you have any hot neighbors nearby?

Some barely recalled guide lines.
The bigger the main lense, generally the better the view, as there's more light to direct to the eye - important with higher magnification levels. At the eye piece, the larger size is for night, or low light, viewing as the eye's iris is open more, to let more light in, and matching them will help vision. |
