Do you play D&D?
Recently I've been getting into it with my friends. I was extremely skeptical at first, the image I had of what a D&D player should look like was shaped by my experiences of playing Magic cards at the local shop. The D&D crowd that ran there was abhorrently nerdy, and it made the game seem unappealing. But my best friends all decided to take it up, and so I gave it a shot. Lo and behold, I'm hooked.
Right now I'm in a campaign in a desolate post apocalyptic world where constructs wiped out most of the life on the planet. So far in 5 sessions we've fought off an army of constructs, competed in the arena for our lives, incited a city full of gnolls to a bloodthirsty riot, released some sort of demigod dragon upon the world, killed another god dragon thereby purifying a legendary axe, and navigated through an ancient "mines of moria" style dungeon filled with the ghosts of dragonborn. These are the days of high adventure... *conan music*
I'm playing an Avenger. Getting to roll two attack dice and pick whichever I want is absurd. Its almost impossible to roll 1s, and I crit like nuts. And the abilities I've found are awesome. Once I hit level 16, the paragon path I've chosen will let me permanently sprout wings and fly. I can't even imagine how my DM is going to cope with that.
In another game I'm playing, I've been toying around with a Psion. Some of the combos I've been able to pull off are pretty interesting. I can mind control an enemy and make him run over to his buddies and hit them in the face, but doing so lets the tank take an opportunity attack on that guy, so I get two hits in one essentially. I also took this power that lets me levitate objects that weigh up to 400lbs, and in one fight I was using it to pick up desks and book cases and lob them into a cloud of smoke and injure this shadow dragon trying to take refuge in there.
So anyways, how about you gentlemen? Do you play D&D? What kind of character do you play? Whats your campaign world like?
